i have a blackvue dr400g-hd

a bird hit my window coming home from camping recently!

and this video is really cool. i was at the search in the north bay for the missing 9 year old girl in samuel p taylor park two months ago, still in uniform, i had just left the sheriffs office on my way home when i saw a lot of cars backing up on my offramp which never happens, then i see this dog running down the side of the freeway! so i pull over to help get it, and just as i'm getting out of my car it was headed into fast moving traffic! this van slams on its brakes, clips the dog injuring one of its rear legs, the dog runs off into the dirt limping which is where i was able to get her to come to me. another person had stopped and had a leash to help, i thought it was the owner at first but it was a random girl. we got the dog in my car and i drove her back to the sheriffs office i just came from and left her with our animal shelter people.
she was fine other than the leg injury which wasn't bad. she could have been creamed by that fast moving van!!!
pic of the dog sitting in my car all happy-go-lucky https://i.imgur.com/MKbM4RK.jpg

Was there a 4-way stop at the intersection or just 2-way (looked like the intersecting street was 1-way)? It looked like the SUV did a California roll through the stop sign (or at least didn't wait for traffic to pass) right into the path of the Golf.

And this is why I hate SF cyclists, the dude just obliviously blew through the intersection without slowing or stopping (especially with his view obstructed by the SUV). He is supposed to slow down enough to touch the stop line with his foot. F*****s think they own the roads.

Double damn :\ Sorry you were involved in this one. This is why I avoid at all costs driving or cycling in the City.

here is another dumbass that just comes over right into my lane on a turn.

just as i start to turn my wheel to the right for the interchange turn and accelerate to get up the incline (doing about 50-55), this guy shoots over into my lane just as it's turning making it a difficult spot to brake (in a turn) or steer another way to miss him. i was barely able to go left a few feet when my left wheels grabbed the dirt on the side and skidded a little. very lucky.
this is the reason i have the dashcam cause if i had hit the guardrail or something else bad happened, i bet it would have kept going and wouldn't look back.

Brakes.

Is that thing (blackvue dr400g-hd) easy to use and reliable and such? I see redonkulous crap every single day. I am feeling like I need something like that.

Just watched all the vids, picture quality looks great on that. Do you have it hard-wired so it comes on every time you drive basically? I think I need one.

yeah i just barely woke up

it's been reliable for me so far. the newer II version came out after i bought my 400.

looks like an even newer version is out now BlackVue - Full HD 1080p Dash Cameras with GPS

i have mine hardwired over to the left of my steering wheel where the fuse box is. i just put the ground to a ground bolt near fuse box, then used a fuse tap/doubler onto an accessory fuse that turns on/off with the car. takes only a few minutes to do that

Sweet! Thanks for the info. Would be rad if I could get multiple mounts and use it in a couple different cars. I have an aged BugEye without the fancy mirror, so 12v has already been plumbed into my ceiling.

The first and 2nd videos were crazy... Can't believe that CRV flipped like that.

Sorry to see you were a victim of an accident as well.

Time to invest in a dash cam..

I've been looking at the Blackvue... anyone have experience with the WiFi model? I would love for it to automatically dump it's contents to my NAS when I land in the driveway.

So for these dashcams, do they usually come with a wire running straight down from the windshield into the cigarette power? i'm assuming you'll have to cut this if you want it hardwired?

I almost got into an accident like OP's 3rd video on a single lane road. Luckily, the car blocked only half of my lane and I was able to swerve off the road in time
