When sending PayPal payment, please select the "I'm sending money to family or friends" option when in the 'Send Money' step.
Make sure the "I will pay the fee" box is checked if paying by credit or debit.
There is NO fee to pay when using your PayPal balance and/or bank account.
Kudos to Rescuer to this last VERY IMPORTANT tidbit.

I still don't have a PayPal account. But as noted in my post above, it should not be an issue if you have a bank account, credit card or debit card. I just followed those steps this time around.

Just paid for a black XL hoodie ($40).
I clicked the send money to friends and family tab but it didn't give me the option to pay for the fee myself so sent extra to cover that stuff. If for some reason I can't make it to BAM, I'll contact you and have someone else grab it for me or pick it up from you.

CC/debit card usage has a small fee, which will show the check box
