Anyone ever go out to Fort Ord and explore? (Lots of pics!!!)
My friend Ryan, Sam, and I decided to go out there yesterday to do some exploring... I had been there before for some airsoft tourneys and was taken back by it's eeriness. In case you don't know, Fort Ord is an abandoned military base that has been in commission since 1917 and played a huge role in the WWII pacific theater. It was considered the best base to be stationed at due to it's proximity to the beach and CA weather...
The base is HUGE, The size of a city. You could explore for a good 3 days and not enter the same building twice.
Like I said, my friends and I went yesterday to explore and stuff, and being the bright people that were are, none of us brought a camera because we thought everyone else was going to bring one! So all we had were two i-phones and an almost dead flip cam. I can't believe how horrible the photos came out, does not do this place justice AT ALL.
Most places are fenced off but are missing large sections of fence, and I didn't see any no trespassing signs? Anyway, the place was filled with abandoned homes, factories, and other industrial facilities... Here are a couple videos and pics:

Dude, it was very foggy and misty, I can't imagine what it'd be like during the night time!
We were all walking and thinking... Man, if this were a warzone, it'd be a sniper's dream!
It's totally weird, it's basically like a whole city that has been abandoned. It was abandoned in 1994, so some of the stuff there is still recent, like the housing and stuff, but there is def stuff there from WWII and the 50's... It's weird just walking around and seeing empty spaces everywhere. It was like Chernobyl...

10 minutes north of Monterey actually, Salinas is inland.
There IS a police station on the base, you're not actually allowed in the buildings, cars do fit on the loading ramps, warehouses are creepy but no one is inside.
