Guys, this isn't a WRC or even a National Rally level event. This is a local performance rally and as such will have severely limited spectator access (likely only one spectator location, and that will probably only be on one day). Part of that is due to the fact that we do not have enough volunteers to staff any additional areas. Please, if you're going to come to spectate do us (and yourself!) a favor and sign up to volunteer. You'll get much closer to the action and will get a free t-shirt and lunch. I assure you it will be well worth it and your volunteering will enable us to continue to host this awesome rally.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from spectating but I want people to realize what it takes to put on these types of events (LOTS of volunteers). Without the backbone of the volunteers this event cannot happen and if the event cannot happen then there won't be anywhere to spectate anyway.

Yeah, its just the SF portion that gives me pause. I'm going to drive to work tomorrow and Thursday (normally I bike) and if I feel well I'll probably be down to sign up to volunteer. I'd probably do something like leave at 4AM Friday morning to breeze through the SF portion, and cruise along Highway 1 once I get over the bridge. I went out driving tonight and things felt a lot better, so we'll see.

As an added bonus, I could take a ham test this coming Saturday and though I don't have any equipment, I would be available if needed.

Hey folks,

Details here: Mendocino Rally

Volunteers: Sign up now for July’s rally stages. Here’s the link: RallyData Home Page

Caged cars: Enter the Rally. As fast as you can go.

Non-caged cars (anything road-legal, basically): In a few months (Sep 19) there’s the Mendocino Gold TSD rally. “Brisk" dirt driving. Put it on your calendars.

Tons of fun!

Hi, Brian!
Hi Byran!!! Thanks for posting all of the additional stuff. Are you going to be joining us at Mendo this year?

Probably not this year but if I’m able, I’ll try to find you and your fozzie. I just came back from the Shasta-Trinity forests about 6 hours north — some amazing logging roads up there. Too bad my power steering died the day before!

No more Foz unfortunately Just rolling in the RS these days. Shasta-Trinity area is awesome. Pete ran an amazing TSD up there called Golden West a while back. Ridiculous roads. It'd be great to see you (and have an additional volunteer ) if you're able to make it.

I'm feeling pretty good about my ability to get around with a manual transmission, so I've registered to volunteer.

I signed up to volunteer several weeks ago. I have experience working rallies. I also work special events for a living and special in media. No one has contacted me. I would have loved to do this.

Awesome! Volunteers make this rally thing go 'round.

No one has contacted you because we haven't formalized the volunteer assignments yet. We will be doing so this week and all volunteers will receive further instructions towards the end of the week. I hope you're still interested!

A HUGE thank you to all of you who volunteered your time to support rally in NorCal!!! We cannot have awesome events like this without a HUGE number of volunteers. I hope to see you guys/gals out there again next year so we can continue to grow this event and make it even better!

I didn't take nearly as many photos as I usually do since I was running as a timing control captain this year. The one that I am most stoked about though was taken with my crappy cell phone, behold the most bodacious howling wolf hood.
