3 yrs 10k miles for $85/month. 3.5k down with 2.5k rebate by state of CA within 90 days of signing.
If you want 12k miles/yr then extra $12/month. "Racing edition" which is basically accent colors on mirrors, lower body and wheels add $12/month.
This is what was told to me today by Newark Fiat.
Interior has nice leather seats with color accents.

So the math on my lease:
$2000 down, get $2500 back CA.
$209+tax = $230/mo + $66 insurance = $296/mo + $50 bridge toll = $346/mo total VS $420/mo for truck gas + toll.
So yeah, making $70/mo ain't bad at all. I got the Leaf vs the Fiat because I have kids and I will either have my daughter with me or sometimes the twins. So having rear doors and more space was important.
What about electricity? Well, if you don't have solar panels then sign up for the EV-A plan with PGE. Overnight charging is like 9 cents per kWh.
My Leaf has a 24kWh, and so if I had to do a FULL charge, and I have solar, so I'm on E6 with PGE, it's about 14 cents now, drops to 11 cents in the summer I think. Then again, I have solar, so I'm already producing more than I consume, so technically... Its free to charge the leaf.
But let's say you needed 15kWh a day for your 500e... 15*.09 (For EV-A rates) is $1.35 of electricity if you charged it at night. An entire month would cost you less than a tank of gas in most cars.

Do it. Seriously. Though it won't help you cross San Mateo or Dumbarton any faster, its $2.50 cheaper for toll.
Factor in gas and good insurance rates and it's really a no brainer. Give your GC some rest, put cash in your pocket.
In 3 years electric cars could be even better. Lease a new one then.

Also: For small or normal EVs charging off 120v is doable. To charge half my Leafs battery to full takes about 12hrs on 120v. So I just charge it daily. I'm going to get a 240v outlet hooked up soon and that will run at 16amps, so my half battery charges will drop to about 4-5hrs.
But most people could swing an overnight charge daily and have plenty of range for the next days commute. 240v is better, but not needed.
If you are in a pinch, you can always charge at a public station for like 49cents per kWh. It's expensive but its 240v so it's pretty fast. One hr should get you on your way.
A great site and app for finding public stations is PlugShare
