Don't know if it has been mentioned yet, since I did not read the whole thread, but Star Blazers is now on Netflix.
I just went through Neon Genesis 1.11 and 2.22 on Blu-ray and I like the new digital scenes, but the compressed story compared to the full series leaves a lot to be desired.

Yep, not saying it was bad at all. Just that having seen the series, watching the new ones you pretty much know what things were cut out to. In a way, it focuses the story a bit, "trimming the fat", but you lose some of the back story and character development. Definitely going to pick up 3.33 when it comes out.

Yes. Each of the new ones is about 6-7 episodes combined and cut down to just the base story.
