if you're in the kanagawa area check out shonan subaru pr shin-ei jidishya. These are subaru dealers in Odawara area and I know the owners there so if you need help I can let them know that you're looking for a good subie at a smok'n price.

There's a chain of dealerships called Eagle or something like that that sells nothing but used, modded Subies. Lemme see if I can find their HP addy for you.
As for shaken, i-Club member Necromancer posted an official government price list a long time ago. You could try searching the forums for it, or lemme see if I can find it again (no guarantees though haha!).

yah eagle has alot of Subies. My dad bought his GC there back in 96 and still has it. As for the shaken I paid 15k yen or roughly $130.00. You can take the car to your local dealer and have them do it or take it your self. make sure that your tires are'nt stiking out past the fender or your front bumper is less than (I think) 25mm off of the ground. You also have to have a cat on the car either sport cat or oem and make sure your exhaust sound level is'nt over 97dbl.
In southern Japan there is a shop called monster and they sell really nice condition GC's and GD's, Zero sports also started a used car line so you know they have nice cars..
Well if you need me to call some people in Kanagawa area hit me up.

$130 for a Kanji plate doesn't quite sound right.
Weight tax, Road tax, JCI and the Shaken inspection usually run more than that.
I go through base inspections (in the Navy) and I end up paying about that.
Where are you guys at in Japan?
