View Full Version : Xbox installation
Jerrodg 11-24-2002, 10:32 PM Multipronged question here, I would like to mount an XBox somewhere in the front of my wagon, where I can remove it with ease, and hook it to a TV monitor that will be mounted inside the glove box. Any ideas? The other question, is how do I rig the XBox to play through the existing stereo system, which does have 2 external amps etc.
LDragon 11-25-2002, 05:56 AM i'd probably try mounting the xbox under the passenger seat or maybe make use of the tiny pass-through into the trunk, not too many choices in this car
Dick Fitzwell 11-25-2002, 07:04 AM monitors are a dime a dozen these days. seems like a lot of people are going the multimedia route. cheap prices can be had as well you just have to be patient and look. are you wanting something removeable or semi-permanent=mounted console etc?
as far as running it through the stereo, are you running stock or aftermarket head unit?
Jerrodg 11-25-2002, 09:16 PM I am running aftermarket everything. The monitor is not going to be the problem, just the sound routing and the Xbox mounting. I can't do it under either seat because I already have 2 amplifiers mounted under the seats.
Impreziv 11-25-2002, 09:18 PM What about in the glove box?
25RS 2NV 11-26-2002, 09:20 AM I agree with pete in that you should put it in the glove box.
post pics when done. :)

Lobster Man 11-26-2002, 01:40 PM I'd looking into getting a PS2 instead b/c you can cut it in half so it opens up a lot more possibilities.
Zoeb2s 11-26-2002, 06:30 PM yea, the xbox is huge, my buddy was going to do the xbox in his 330, but couldnt mount it anywhere so decided to do the PS2 instead..

Wagons dont have a tiny pass through. The rear seats fold down.

Do you mean cut the PS2 in half?!?!?! Like with a saw? and extend some wires.

Jerrodg 11-27-2002, 11:07 PM Do you think the Xbox would fit and be accessible in the glove box with a 7.4" monitor already installed in it?

i doubt it, those xbox's are pretty bulky. i agree about the ps2, the design makes it a lot more install friendly in a vehicle than the xbox. if you really want to install it though, you might think about relocating one amp to the trunk
Keenan 12-01-2002, 02:33 AM Not sure how much you want to modify but if you are putting a monitor in the glove box, is it possible to build an enclosure that hangs below the glove box? Another thought is if there is any way to mount in the middle armrest/storage pocket. This would require some significant modification but its an idea.

If you didn't mind losing your passanger side air bag you might be able to install it there. Just an ideal
or how about in the middle of the floor board in the back seat, like on the hump area?

scotty305 12-16-2002, 03:52 AM xbox has regular RCA audio output, right? Just hook it up to the AUX IN ports like you would with a DVD player. Add some Y-cables if you need to. Imagine the xbox games with your choice of background music from your CD/MP3 player...
You could mount it in place of your passenger airbag, or maybe get creative with fabricating a center armrest console (behind the shifter) with the xbox built into it.
xboxes are pretty big, a PS2 would be much easier. And they don't have GranTurismo for xbox...

(EDIT: I just said the exact same things those other people already said. Time to go to bed now...)
voyager2000 12-19-2002, 06:17 PM I don't know you but I pretend to install my XBOX in my WRX soon

siddhartha 12-19-2002, 08:28 PM why --- ?
is ordinary reality not providing enough stimulus?
Please explain the need for arcade entertainment in a modern high performance automobile. Is traffic not engaging enough? Perhaps you need to increase your Ritalin dosage ...
