Do any of you RS-T owners have recirculating BOVs? is it possible? any good/bad on them? possibly on a Ludespeed kit. just curious if it can be done and if it has any effects since i've only seen people with ones that blow to the atmosphere

I believe it is called a bypass valve.

The orignal turbo kits made by Minnam were the ones that had dumped the air into the intake near the MAF. Which was thought to cause some of the blown sensors.

Most kits on the market feature BOV's that vent to atomosphere. I dont know of anyone that has a recirculating BOV on their RS-T. But if you have a MAF i dont think it would be a good idea to get a recirculating BOV because IIRC it makes you run lean and you dont want that under boost. Also BOV's make hella cool noises!

what about the MAP based RS's like MY00??
btw i don't want the noise... well i just want to hear turbo spool and wastegate :p

unless you have a mass airflow sensor you dont need to recirculated it. plus it sounds cool blowing off.:)

You won't hear the turbo whine unless you have a small turbo that get spooled quite fast. And only way to hear the wastegate is to vent to atmosphere, but then that would be very loud!

well anyways i really don't want any of those to be heard coming from my car. no bov, no wastegate, turbo whine, if possible. i just like the sounds of turbos and wastegates over bovs though, but not from my car.

Get a good ball bearing turbo, straight pipe exhaust, no cat and don't dump the BOV to atmo. That should give you the whistling turbo sound that your after. It won't be legal and will likely get annoying to your neighbors but you'll sure be able to hear the turbo spooling.

The sound gets old after a while. Especially on a long trip. The commerial toilet whoooosh and whistle in combination with the F16 fighter jet throttle up sound gets old too. My car makes so much noise now, I am a basket case after a day of driving just looking out for the cops. You know... strange un normal sounds attract cops like flies to crap...

With a quieter exhaust and a tube/cone intake, you can hear the turbo spool. With a louder exhaust you likely can't.

Agreed about the bypass valve. why? noise? weeeeak! Its just air, it should vent to the atmosphere...its proly even cleaner after being sucked through a filter, heated and cooled :p
My Tial bov makes hardly any sound at all. You hear the wastegate and turbo over the bov unless you've taken the time to learn how to make it flutter under partial throttle. (as I have...I like to taunt V8's every now and again :D)
I'll be at krispe Kreme tonight, come bug me for a demonstration if you'd like.

Hayscoob: if you hate those sounds, then give your car to me, then you'll start missing them. Just like I'm missing them with my car 100 miles away broken down :(
but back on subject, if you want to recirculate, go ahead, it won't hurt you at all, there's been a few setups that recirculate, mostly MAF equipped cars so that they don't run rediculously rich when it blows off. for a MAP equipped car it doesn't matter, but if you don't want to hear the BOV, then you don't want to hear it, go ahead and plumb it back into the intake.

I bought a re-circulation kit for my HKS SQV, but I am not recirculating it back to the intake, the adapter is just on there... in my opinion, I'd rather spit out excess air rather than recycling it, since I have a free-flow filter, it should'nt be too bad to be running rich slightly when shifting gears and I doubt it will kill anything... unless it was too too rich, it might kill your O2 sensor or maybe uppipe [not entirely sure on this one]? but then I have an S-AFC, that should correct it some. I don't like recycled air, its not all that great for the efficient side. Recirculating my BOV won't help in turbo re-spool up response anyways in the way how most of our street cars are set up. You'd need another device to make the turbo keep spinning between shifts, just recirculation won't do at all.
