View Full Version : sti Seibon cf hood
isr96 03-25-2005, 01:21 AM I was wondering who has this hood and how did they install it on there car? It seems like i need to drill holes to install the splitter into the hoodscoop. Anyone done this and know what i am talking about? Also the stock hood has those rubber things at the end of the hood and i'm wondering did anyone tranfer that onto the cf hood? Thanks!
playa7 03-25-2005, 07:18 PM i simply just didnt put any of that stuff back on...i figure upgrading to an after market ic, so i wasnt in need of the splitter, as for the rubber, my hood sits flush so the rubber wasnt needed. besides let the air come in. lower engine temp....unfortunatly, more dirt and road debri comes flying in as well.
as for drilling and such... try a search b/c i've seen it done here on i-club awile back. pics and all.

thanks for the advice. Anyone else?
isr96 03-27-2005, 01:32 AM also i can't fit the windshield washer nozzles onto the hood either. the holes seem to be a tad to small. anyone else had this problem
Seraph 03-27-2005, 11:08 AM Yes i had this problem, i simply shaved the nozzle's stem and fixed it on with a few dabs of silicone on the side walls of the hood's hole.
If you're getting the vented hood, it might be a good idea to think about doing this:

Even if you're getting the non-vented version, it might be a good idea to check it out anyway, because after i did the writeup for the vent holes, I found that the fiberglass isn't really good enough to hold on to the splitter for too long before the screw threads just chew through the sides of the holes. Alternatively you can just do what playa7 did and leave the splitter off, but then again iirc the water spray nozzle is attatched to the splitter so.......
playa7 03-27-2005, 07:17 PM actually i never had a problem with the nozzles....they were a snug fit, but they went right in...and yes one of the hoses just hangs now. i just shoved it in the scoop so it wouldnt get burnt up. no biggie.
isr96 03-27-2005, 11:51 PM as of right now i am running without the splitter, nozzles, and any rubber pieces. Any downside to not running the splitter besides no water nozzle? Thanks for the advice on the nozzles. I will go see if i can shave them down. How did you do yours? sandpaper?
playa7 03-27-2005, 11:55 PM not running the splitter on the stock tmic....causes the air to not directly go straight through the tmic...instead it goes around and some what thru the tmic.
Seraph 03-28-2005, 06:20 AM i used a dremel, but it was the sandpaper bit =P But if you do shave them down remember that since there are no more tabs the nozzles won't automatically be straight, so you have to line them up and fire off some test shots before putting in the silicone
isr96 03-28-2005, 02:27 PM thanks for the advice
faiwu 04-01-2005, 02:30 AM so you guys have the stock top intercooler and having the seibon reverse CF hood with the reverse schoop? i wanna get that piece too, but i was told that you have to have the FMIC if you wanna have the reverse scoop. so can i still have the reverse scoop without the FMIC then?
playa7 04-01-2005, 06:58 PM actually no....we have the Seibon hood with STi scoop....dunno where you got the idea we had the reverse scoop from , but you shouldnt run the reverse scoop with a tmic. that would defeat the whole purpose of the wrx/STi scoop. in order for the tmic to be efficient. air would have to flow thru it, via the wrx/STi scoop. ppl who use fmic dont need this scoop anymore because the intercooler is in the front of the car. so they could run any scoop they want or no scoop at all (stock rs hood).

+1. This thread never mentioned the reverse scoop.
