Does any one have info on the stock head unit - like the power output or if it has an rca preout? Or know where I can find the info.
Thanks

there is no rca preout, but you can get a hi/low converter. as far as watts. i dont think more than 20-25 each channel. usually factory systems are weak.

I have heard that someone measured about 11 clean watts per channel from the head unit. I have personally found that between 25 and 30 on the dial I start getting audible noise that is definitely from the head unit.

no preouts, but a decent LOC can easily remedy that situation. If kept at a reasonable level and externally amplified, the stock head unit can be made to sound loud and pretty good.

I recall a post stating 8 watts per channel before distortion set in. Probably accurate based on my experiences with the stock HU before I yanked it.

Hmm..I would like to upgrade my front speakers and add a powered sub ( Infinty Basslink ). I guess I will look into an amp as well, since the stock h/u isn't too powerful

I plan on keeping my stock head unit, BUT not using it for power, i plan on powering all the highs and mids through a 4 channel amp, its kinda like replacing the deck but with out doing it...i have always been into nice decks, but i wanted to keep the stock deck in so i don't get jacked, having a stock deck normally makes theives assume you dont have anything in the trunk...
