We are heading down to the Ice RallyCross Sunday morning. Ten mile section of "special stage" on 67 before you get to Deckers is the most fun road on the front range. You can run the RallyCross or just watch. We are usually done by 2pm and have fun on the way back.

Yes, it is this coming Sunday. Last year a 97 Legacy Outback finished 2nd for the season and had a win and two seconds. Come on down!

Hey RallyX, i went to the rallycross race on Sunday, which car was yours. I was driving the green/blue '94 Legacy Touring Wagon. The road from Deckers to 285 is fun with a turbo.

Silver WRX Wagon with black tinted windows and sponsor stickers in PGT. It was also 432 in Open with another driver. I finished second in class but moved up to 1st in the season points standings. 29 Black WRX Wagon won PGT. 421 white Mitsubishi is usually pretty fast but they made some huge errors and finished well down. 49 Silver WRX Wagon won Open class in his first time out!

Did you come down to say hi? We are a pretty friendly bunch. If you had a helmet we would have given you a ride.

The course was very slippery and slower then normal. Still very challenging.

You should have turned right at Deckers and taken 67 to Sedalia. 10 miles of snow covered dirt!

I am looking at photos and I think I see you parked next to the white Land Rover? Thanks for coming. Hope you had fun!

Depending on how warm/cold it is the Pikes Peak Sports Car Club will run the last Ice Solo race on the small lake at Rainbow Falls on Sunday the 23rd. They have a different class set up which puts all the AWD cars together. Unlike RallyCross best lap wins. You need to get there around 9 if you are competing. Usually done by 1-2pm. It's fun and safe.

What kind of tires do you use for ice races?

I use Blizzaks. Michelin Arctic Alpine are good as well. I have seen Nokian, Yokohama, Dunlop and Goodyear snow tires all do well. You can run on A/S tires including RE92's and learn a lot and have fun but probably not win. RE 92's are actually pretty good on the dirt and drivers won with these twice last year.

Ya, I have some snow tires that I use in the winter, but they're really heavy, and on steel 15 inch wheels. Is there any requirements on safety equipment? (helmets, 5 points, rollcage, etc...)? I have about 250hp on tap once I figure out this stupid fuel pump short problem!!.

You need a decent helmet with Snell 95 or better. Motorcycle helmets are OK. They have loaners available or you could borrow someone elses. Never seen this as a problem. Battery can't be loose. Tires can't show any cords. Lots of guys use steel wheels. Roll cages are not required. Course are designed to keep you at relatively safe speeds with no obsticles near the course.

Who was driving that Mazda 323 rally car. I think it was a Mazda.?

I was parked next to that Rover. You were parked over by the two Mazdas?

Bob Campbell was driving the Group A Mazda 323 GTX. The clutch broke and he had to switch to the WRX wagon to finish his last two runs. He imported the 323 from Wales last year and this is only the third event for it here in the US. It's got alot of tough miles on it. Bob was a mechanic on the SCCA Hyundai Pro Rally team until it closed its doors a couple of weeks ago. His car runs much better when he puts the studs on for exhibition. He'll tear it up when the series heads to dirt. Luckily he is in Open and I am in PGT (pretty close to stock)!

I was next to the RX7 and the other silver WRX wagon with silver tinted windows early but the car moved around during the day. I was the only wagon with "sponsors!"
