Hello, first time poster. I got a 88 Subaru GL wagon with the 4wd and a 3 speed auto. The problem is that when you first start up the car (when cold that is) it won't start off in 1st gear. Won'ts to stay in 2nd or sometimes 3rd even when you pull back on the gearshift. Now when it warms up it shifts fine, 123. It has new fluid and filter in it. I have been told that it has a modulater vaule on the passenger side and that the nylon gear is prone to strip out. Makes sence to any of you? Thanks in advance for any thoughts. Bout to forget, it has 140,000 on her.
