Where can I buy stock WRX all-season tires?

...for cheap?

I've got about 10,000 miles left on my stock all-season tires, which have served me well. I'll probably just replace them with the same setup.

Any idea how much they cost for a set? Where to go?

I looked at Tirerack.com, but.. ehh... Usually it costs a fortune to have a local shop mount and balance them if you don't buy from them.

If you're talking about the stock re92s, keep looking around... put a post up in the NCal classifieds.

You can probably find someone giving 'em away

...I've got two newish ones that you can have.

there are much better all season tires out there that cost a lot less than the crappy re-92s. i would suggest getting something else.

but people are usually willing to give their tires away or sell them for real cheap since nobody likes them at all

re92's....the scapegoat of most WRX forums. post a "wanted" ad for these tires; someone will respond since most WRX owners get rid of these tires fairly quick after getting their cars.

Honestly, I think you should look into other tires. OEM tires are usually just enough to do the job. I bet you could find some nice all seasons for the same or lower price with better attributes.

I wish I could suggest something, but I'm mostly familiar with summer tires.

check out the selection of comparable (better) tires than RE92s on tirerack.com, there are a lot of options available and all of them are cheaper than RE92. also check out the stories people have written about riding on these tires, there is a guy with a Maxima who claims he almost flipped his car thanks to them haha!

I strongly agree with everyone who is pointing you elsewhere, there are a lot of much better tires on the market - many are much less expensive, and there are a few that are more expensive.

But hands down -there are none that cost that much and perform as badly as RE92's

hmm... you guys seem to make a pretty compelling case for ditching the stock tires. I didn't think they were so bad!

At any rate, what all-season tires would you all recommend? (I know I'm opening a can of worms here, but just to get a rough idea...)

Can it be done for under $100/tire? Significantly under $100/tire?

I'm on my second set of these, they aren't too bad in snow and they aren't bad in rain either, there are stickier tires for dry conditions, but their break-away behavior is pretty forgiving, when you consider they can be had from tire rack for $66 ea, they are great!

Try the Toyo Proxes 4. They are very nice in the rain. Cheap too. I got my set for 375 dollars.

Wish I had seen those when I was shopping.

I ended up paying a bit more for BF Goodrich Traction TA Vs. ($97 at tirerack although I got them locally for a bit more) I really wanted PZero Nero's but couldn't get them when I needed them and these were available.

I got them as crossover winter tires and so far I really like them. A lot better than the Re92s and I think I prefer them to the Bridgestone 730s I have as summer tires but it's been mostly freeway and it turned out dry the one time I took them to Tahoe so the jury's still out. The only thing I'm not so keen on is that they are directional. Bother's me since I can't carry an identical spare.

Unlike the Sumitomo HTR+ and the stock Re92 Vs, they do have a 60000 mile treadlife warranty so I'm hoping that will translate into lasting a long time. I've had good luck with warrantied tires in the past. Might be something to consider if you do a lot of miles and you don't generally drive "aggressively". Reading the reviews you can probably expect only 20000 to 30000 max out of the Sumitomo's.
