Looking at either a GT25 or GT28 turbo, I have looked at the HKS GT series as well as Garrett GT turbos offered by other companies. I am already committed to external wastegate and custom up and down pipes. I am just trying to figure out which A/R to get? WHich will be better for midrange GT25 or GT28. I noticed that on the HKS website they do not show any GT25s with external wastegates so I would have to go with a different supplier for a GT25. I am looking for midrange and a lot of torque I will be using this turbo with a 32 or 34mm inlet restrictor so I need torque from 2800-7000 rpm. ANy recomendations or advice from people that know a lot about the GT series would be helpful.

I forgot to mention that I am not opposed to getting a straight GT series Garrett (they are cheaper) is there really any difference from the HKS units?

Yeah the GT30 is a bit big for my application since it will not be a strip turbo but is eventually going to go into my rally car. I still have to decide if I am going to build a 2.2 or get a V.6 or V.7 EJ20. I know that I am going to run Autronic so I have management covered as well as injectors. DOes anyone have the GT25 or GT28? Thanks for recomending ROb at Forced pErformance I talked with him as well. Impreziv drop me a PM or email I would love any recomendations.

The HKS tubros are done off the garret GT series, although HKS does have proprietary wheel combos (all of which are garrett offerings, so it is possible to duplicate them).

I would say for your goals a GT25 would be best...you'll be limited to around 350 HP but it will pack a wallop in the midrange, provided its tuned correctly. These turbos can be supplied with internal wastegates if desired, or you can go external if you so choose. The 28 series will step you up to the 400 hp range (at the motor), and have a bit more top end power for you. The AR of the turbine section has to take into account the compressor side naturally. The overall AR of the turbine effectively shifts the power band up and down the rpm range (up with a bigger AR, down with a smaller AR) given the same compressor side, but doesn' ahve a huge overall effect on peak HP numbers.

let us know if you need info/pricing, as we carry the whole Garrett GT (and HKS) turbo range, as well as external wasteates from TiAL, HKS, GReddy.

Tifosi77- I dont know where Kampuchea but if you live near or can get to Chicago there is a shop named A-Spec Tunning and they do awsome things with Garrett's. The owner Sean has a T3 setup that is amazing.

Kampuchea is an inside joke with some other people on the board but i will look up that place in CHi town, I think that i ma going to go with a GT28 turbo mated to my EJ22. Thanks for all the help from everyone.
