FS in CT/Tri-state 1986 Ford Mustang GT Convertible 5.0/5 Speed $2900
I know there is a lot to read about this car; I want the buyer to know everything I went through and the reason for my price on this car. Yes it is a little pricey for a convertible 5.0 in a 'needing paint' condition. But it is worth it. This car was brought back from practically being dead, for a new lease on life.
After passing this car on a side street for years and watching it slowly deteriorate; I knew I had to have it. I bought it for 2200$, yes I know thats a lot of dough for a hunk of junk fox body; but I live in a very expensive area, and these cars are pretty 'rare' locally. This car is the first year of the SEFI 5.0 and 8.8 rear; this car is SPEED DENSITY, NOT MAF.
This car was bought as a project car and was put back together with the utmost concern for New England winters (i.e. Salt) and stopping them from hurting the car in any way, shape or form, the entire interior of the car was removed, carpet pulled, whatever rust there was, was taken care of, there was a small hole in the floor near the seam for the wall that goes up to the rear seats, I tacked/mig'd a line through the whole seam, and used new seam sealant on it, I also welded a patch on the rear seat area and used seam sealant on it as well. Then I proceeded to spray the entire floor pans/rear seat area with 3m rubber spray/rubberizer; I did this to rid the car of some road noise and to be sure if anything ever leaked in passenger compartment, soda, salt, what-have-you that even if it did soak into the carpet, it wouldn't touch bare or painted metal.
The trunk was taken care of like this as well there was a patch that was needed near the filler neck of the gas tank, so I went ahead and cut it out and patched it. Used seam sealer on it, and proceeded to rubberize the interior of the trunk as well.
The entire underbody of the car was gone through piece by piece for weeks. It isn't all one color or show painted. But where there was rust, we sanded till bare metal and used rust converter/primer on it. Then sealed the spots up. This car was to be a daily driver, and it never was, it was taken out on some summer days, shooting out of the H-Pipe. No exhaust system was ever bought for it. The car came to me shooting out of the exhaust manifolds.
If there are any questions about the car, please e-mail me at gered@optonline.net. Other than that, I tried to list all the info below. If I forgot anything; I'll edit the information on a new post/edit.
