Is anyone running this exhaust that you can get directly from Subaru? How's the sound? Price? I was thinking about getting this just to keep the dealer happy with warrenty issues because I have ran into problems in the past with mods and warrenties.

Thanks

I have it. It is a good exhaust but pretty expensive new 850.00 from subaru w/tax. I might have 1 fs in a few weeks :) pm me if you are interested.
IIRC there was a gain of 8hp over stock? It is not to loud when you are coasting but has some db's fron the line.

Not to high-jack this thread but, could someone put up the specs on the STi muffler? pipe sizes, tail pipe size? Straight through design?

Thanks!

The barrel is straight through and it uses 2.5inch piping all the way up to the barrel and I believe it has a 4inch tip. It is defintiely lighter than the stock unit.

IF I wanted a single tip quality aftermarket muffler i would get the pro-drive which is about 350-375.

If you want a exhaust that will not void your warranty that go with the STI factory option.

The piping is not 2.5inch piping that is connected to the muffler, and it muffler has a very small inner diameter limiting it's overall flow potential IMO. I used to have this muffler, but have upgraded to an cheap $100 2.25inch inner diameter straight through design muffler with 3inch. piping and it definatly sounds better/deeper and seems to perform better to me.

This muffler is sold by SOA without any kind of warranty, and NOTHING you do, or ANY exhuast you install on your car will void your warranty as people seem to think. They will simply deny your claim or have an rep. from SOA come down and check out your car and figure out what they can blame it on so Subaru doesn't have to pay.

Don't let SOA scare you into buying this $800 muffler that gives you little or no performance because you are scared of your warranty being void IMO anyway.. Here are the specs of this muffler..

Material used: Stainless Steel T304
Inlet pipe diameter=60mm
Outlet pipe diameter=101.25mm
The performance muffler weighs 2kg lighter than the OEM muffler.

edit: If you do just want an muffler(which will not really give you much performance gain compared to an turboback exhuast or upipe), then I recommend the Prodrive WRSport muffler. Irvine Subaru sells them and they are very similar in sound and quality of the STI Genome muffler that SOA sells.

Thanks! It's nice to read a factual (as opposed to strictly opinion) post every once in a while. Keep up the good work!

Well it's close to 2.5inch, but when I had it bolted up to an real 2.5inch exhuast I could visably see the difference. It's in between 2.25inch piping and 2.5inch piping, like the rest of the stock exhuast, I forget the actual measurment and don't have access to it anymore to measure.
