I like the Mazda 6.
I don't think it'll be a rival to WRX but looks like it's a good family car. If I was in a market for a cheap dependable family car, I'd think about it. I wouldn't get the turbo one though, just the regular one for commuting and such.

I've seen a Mazda spokesperson say that they designed this car to compete with the WRX and Evo (oversees). Seems like more AWD BMW competition being that it's a luxo-sports car.

i dunno, there are currently quite a few awd cars, with turbos and more hp than wrx that arent on the same playing field. relatively lightweight, a wider stance, a nice suspension, there are just so many variables that put down those great numbers.

Well, if the Turbo Legacy doesn't come, then I'll be tooling around in the AWD Turbo 6. Although AFAIK, the Turbo AWD won't make it to these shores for a while, if at all. Still, having owned 3 626's, I wouldn't hesitate going back to mazda.

Yeah, I sure hope we get a turbo legacy sooner than that. From what I've read, we'll have a while to wait before we see an AWD, turbo'd 6. Either way, there's a ton of awesome cars coming our way, even in America.

The current Mazda6 comes with a 219hp V-6 and is front-wheel drive. There was a Mazdaspeed 6 prototype at some car show recently (I can't remember which), that had a turbo and AWD, but that's not going to be in the states anytime soon.

Accord and Camry is what the Mazda6 will eat for breakfast, not the WRX.

The fast version is the mazda 6 MPS. 280hp and awd. ^ speed manual only. Should run around 30-35 grand. the mazda 6s v6 is a cool car, but with an anemic engine. the accord and altima whip it in acceleration. the 6 only ran a 16.2 compared to 14.8 for the accord and 14.9 for the altima. all automatics

WOW, I saw the new 6 at the SF Auto show last night and it looked REALLY good. I'm still in shock. The interior was extremely impressive as well. It'll be awesome in AWD turbo'd form. Supposedly there's going to be a wagon version too. Woohoo!

the car looks pretty decent from what mazda has come since the rx7 with the power packages.

considering how bad our wrx's corners out of the box, they might consider our cars as competition. most mags claim bmw type cornering ability on mazda platforms...

took me over $3k to make my wrx corner decently...even so, its still not sharp as my honda.

i wouldn't consider the 6 as a 'cheap family car' but more of a
sports oriented grocery getter. :D
