It's pretty reliable, besides the tranny if you're hammering it hard. It can take the daily fun of going to school and home, but not burnin' every weekend. About modding you car, some dealers have tightened their insurance policy from SOA because people keep abusing it. So make sure you read up on mods and what warranty they could possibly void.

lol, your insurance will be pretty high . . . i got my wrx when i was 17 also and my mom says my insurance keeps gettin higher. other than that everything should be fine unless you wanna mod your car and void your warranty like me, hahahaha . . . also your parents might get pissed that it gets voided. Good luck with the WRX when you get it !

i dont own a wrx yet, but the transmission is fine. the only way it'll fall apart is if you constantly launch the car from over 4k. it puts a lot of pressure on the transmission and the 4 wheels. good luck

Welcome, u should have no problems if u don't abuse the car.

It all depends on what you mean by abuse. This car is way more solid than my Toyota was. Just don't dump the clutch to launch hard. I took her up last week on an extremely twisty road (150 miles of wonderful twisty-ness) and I was passing motorcycles. She handles like a dream and isn't too shabby in the acceleration department either.

Just remember, this is not a drag car (like a mustang or LS1) it is a rally car. Sure it will beat stock GT's and other "fast" cars, but that isn't what it is designed for.

Good luck.

Welcome...

Just dont do 5-6k dump launches. Basically dumping the clutch like a FWD'er.

Oh and on the insurance tip: I am 24 and when I got my 2004. My insurance company sent me a letter stating:

Quote: "due to the high hp and low curb weight Erie dosn't normally insure these types of vehicles. Since you are a current policy holder we will grant you insurance" I started laughing my ass off and hung on the fridge.

:D

Visit SPD tuning on the web for much info on the limitations and capabilities of our US version of the wrx, be smart and get to know the car like a good freind. Mods will come just enjoy eash one and be thankful.

The '05 transmission should be solid. Subaru has discretely upgraded the transmission each year since '02 and provided you are doing 5k clutch drops all the time you should be fine.
