if your not legal you shouldnt get the rights that we do! people are freakin retarded. not to be mean or anything, but where i live there are alot of illegals and the ones who drive can barely afford their car let alone insurance so now that its legal for them to drive we will prob. have to pay more for car insurance because of more uninsured drivers out there. damn people are stupid

Yeah some people are stupid alright, so right now when you have illegals working here and driving around with no license -how many of them do you think are carrying insurance?
Whereas, once they can get a license, if they want to register a vehicle, they will have to have insurance, and the state will then actually have a chance to keep some tabs on them, as it is now its the wild west for foreigners here illegally.

Granting driving PRIVLEDGES (nobody has a "right" to drive) to illegals shouldn't bother you guys at all, driving without insurance is still just as illegal as driving without a license was, and the fact that some foreign citezens will have to take a test and prove they know how to drive should only make things better.

 

in my opinion it just says hey, you don't care about our laws by being here illegally so we will reward you by allowing you to have a drivers license.

 

Until you realize:

1. California Supreme Court ruled that posession of a CA drivers license is proof of citizenship. Multiple states and airlines have stated that if this law were to pass, that they would no longer accept California ID, meaning you will be required to get a passport if you want to travel.

2. Most of them likely won't have car insurance anyway.
