you might not have rubbing issues, MIGHT, but you'll probably be putting extra stress on the bearings.

Some of the cookie cutter wheel makers only have that offset & while it will work most of the time, in truth, it is not ideal. But I know of some inexpensive wheels that are Suby specific, but I can't remember the brand... :p

Vicore,
hey i was in the same situation as u... last month i purchased a set of 17X7.5 work meister S2R in a 42 offset. I was worried cause everyone says to go with a +48 or above. Work wheels recommendation was a 42 offset. Anyways, I just put them on Toyo proxes 225/45/17 last week and do not have rubbing on fenders or struts like i thought i was. Like he said above u might have extra stress on bearings but will not rub :)
btw- i have an 04 sedan

just wondering... do you know if your wheels fit on a sti? i'm looking to get a set of those in 18's... looking for the offset. but i have heard that you can get custom offsets... which still requires me to know which offset works...thanks!

im pretty sure the factory bbs wheels are +52 or close too to fit over the brembos....i would do a search for sti offset. it should be real easy to find

Sti wheels are 53 in offset.WRX wheels will not fit on a Sti with Brembo brakes.

Im guessing you havent lowerd your car. If you do lower it I would be willing to bet they will rub. I have an 02 sedan with 225/45/17 so3's on a 17x7.5 rim with a +48mm offset, the car is lowerd 1.2" in the rear and it rubs the fenders when pushing hard (I am also at -1 degree of camber and that doesnt help).
