I have an 02 Sabaru TS, but im not sure if I have a MAF or MAP. Anyone can enlighten me about that? And is there anything i need to know about the MAF/MAP if im gonna get a CAI on my suby? Whats the difference between MAF and MAP?? Im new to this so bare with me. Thx

MAP. MAPs are easier to get intakes for, as you can pretty much put whatever you want past the throttle body, you dont have to have the MAF sensor in the intake.

The difference
MAF: Mass Air Flow Sensor
MAP: Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor
To my understanding these guys work like so.
MAF:
There are three kinds of MAF sensors. One is uses a heated wire to measure amperage drawn. The other is a thick film type which monitors the temperature of the air with a heat changing resister like on electronic thermometers.
The thick film type registers slower than the hot wire but bot are very fast, down to milseconds.
There is one other type of maf that measures airflow by volume using a hinged device to measure the flow by having it push it in a level type of action.
MAP:
The MAP is like a barometer of sorts.
It just tells you the air pressure at a given point then combining that data with the data of how hot the air is and the rpm the engine is running at to get a feel for the volume being sucked into the engine.
Its a bit slower to react to sudden changes becuase of its reliance on rpm and pressure for volume into the engine.
