I need mud flaps or some kind of protection asap for my RS, my paint is taking a beating everytime I go out, the ones I have seen are more than 500$. I was thinking of making the flaps/guards myself, but where do I get the right materials/rubber?
please help, any input is good, thanks

I fashioned my own from generic fiberglass-reinforced rubber mud flaps I picked up at Kragen for less than $40 for two pairs. They aren't as pretty as genuine Subaru mud flaps or as heavy duty as the Fastline pieces but they are just fine for mostly road use, light snow/ice, or gravel use at granny speeds. ;) Some drilling required along with stainless steel ¼inch-20 capscrews, washers, and nylon insert locknuts from Lowes.

I made a set of 4 from a set of truck flaps got for $7.00 a set. I cut them to fit and mounted them using J-hook mounts placed in slots in the flaps. The hooks clip to the inner edge of the wheel well. They stay on but I can slide them off if I want to remove them and there are no holes to drill. I wanted big oversize flaps for the mud and snow, so mine look like the JDM ones in the prior post (but mine are black).

I cant find these darn things for a darn subaru under 500$....and that is a heck of a lot of money.
What did others do? I am thinking of just purchasing some rubber mudflaps for another car or truck and cutting them....its getting rediculous to spend 550$ for the little STI sign on the back of the flaps....
any ideas or input would be great!

I have the prodrives, they are a perfect fit and are actual splash-guard style instead of the flat piece of plastic. They're a quality piece, I think I paid 200 shipped for them.

Please don't post the same question more than once, thanks. I've merged your second thread with your first.
