Guys, is it that important to have a flex section on an uppipe? The difference in price of a solid uppipe vs. a flex section uppipe is around $70 ...is it worth it?

just buy the helix flex its a good brand and cheap im gonna get that one.:)

yeah but will it even fit for the XT? if so, yeah, helix is what i have and i love mine. no problems what-so-ever. i dunno, i mean, it is important so it wont put stress on your turbo but i know alot of the hawaii guys run PDE uppipe w/o flex which give them no problems at all.

If it helps at all, I have the TurboXS uppipe that doesn't have a flex. I've had to get under the car 4 times to try & fix the leak from the gaskets. After the 4th time, with new gaskets and correct torque on all the bolts/nuts, I STILL don't think it's completely fixed. IMHO, get the Helix!!

from my experience with using the helix flex, i had it bout a year now and no uppipe leaking yet..........i hope i just didn't jinx my self. from what i heard about the helx flex it causes more turbelence within the manifold-uppipe-turbo, maybe not as smooth as the solid uppipe, but i'm guessing you will have more durabiltiy with the flex joint in the long run......

i have the godspeed uppipe, which has no flex, it has never ever leaked on me, since the day it was installed, 2 years ago. It's still in there, leak free.

its proabaly because the people who installed it did a good job!

I have one withOUT a flex but if I had the opertunity to do it again I might to the flex pipe route... I think that companies started using flex in there pipes due to engine flexing. also it might help stop the dredded uppipe leak!

lol...Mario & I took about 7 the first time. That was on jack stands & finishing at 1 am. We didn't change gaskets either. I think that was probably my biggest issue, as most if not all of the leak was gone after changing them out. Since I didn't change the gaskets, and possibly overtightened the joints, I may have actually bent the flange on the uppipe-to-manifold joint. We'll see how it goes. I chose the uppipe for a couple of reasons , and I think I'm finally happy with it. I know I can definitely do a complete uppipe swap in less than 2 hours with the car on a lift now! :D

yeah uppipes are easier now, i ended up stripping a nut, and thats what took the longest to get off. :mad: :D

solid PDE. I've had a lot of problems, but fortunately Wes has always made locating the problem and fixing it very easy. Also, look how many times I've had it off of the car. I know for a fact that the installers were the best in the business, so I can only blame quality of product.

Is that turbulence thing with flex sections something major when running stock turbo/boost? Or is it only with high HP applications?
