Alright, I have an '83 GL-10 Wagon.. Carbed/NA 1.8 EA82 w/ Auto and Locking 4WD.

Problem is that it's eaten a main bearing, and the carb is totalled. I'm looking for a new engine but here's where I need some info.

I know that the EA82 switched to FI around '85, but I was wondering if those 85-and-up EA82s (EA82T included.. since thats ultimately what I'd like to buy) will bolt into my '83 Wagon, or will I need custom mounts/crossmember?

i think that you should be able to swap on heads and wiring harnesses from the mpfi set up and you should be fine. the turbo setup i think might be a direct bolt on from there. best bet though would be to go to those who really know the old subies.

Ya, USMB is where I get all the info for my '78 Scoob ;) There is a thread on USMB somewhere that discusses the FI conversion for EA81/82 motors.

Easier said than done. It's not a direct bolt-in.
