Deserting is bad. Just shy of Treason in fact. But, how dumb do you have to be to not get yourself discharged fromt he Army as a Conscientious Objector? Hell, there are dozens of ways to get yourself out with an honorable discharge. What really bothers me is his website's assertion that the war is a "criminal enterprise." That indicates his true reason for wanting out, and he is NOT entitled to leave the military on those grounds. Once you take the oath of service, you are legally required to continue to serve, with the exception of not being required to follow illegal orders. The war is not illegal, so he is obligated to continue to serve. He should have stuck with his "I can't fight back" approach.

He made a committment to us, and he should keep it. More importantly, he let his brothers down. He should be punished to the full extent of the law.

Nice to know we have two people here with a clear view on this issue. I was expecting a much different answer for flame-baiting purpose. ;)
