Thumbs down Good and Bad NEWS

The bad news is that I had my new car for 2 weeks and I just got a speeding tix on the way home tonight. 80 in a 65 on 280N.

The good news is I got the result of my other tix back from March.

https://www.i-club.com/forums/bay-area-15/ok-ok-i-speeding-51194/

I did trial by written dec. and I WON. THANK YOU COMMISSIONER F. DRAGO. You da MAN

I beat a 80+ in a 40mph tix

I guess I am gonna have to use my $360.90 refund to fight this one. its a never ending cycle

Well..I guess, glad you got out of that other ticket. Sucks that you got this one. Maybe you should slow down some?

I don't mean to nag, but slow down. You may think you're doing it safely, but if you were doing it safely, it means you were alert and aware of your surroundings and thus would not have been caught doing 80.

My first ticket ever was during a drive and I was doing 87 in a 55, haha. Thank god I was a minor at the time because my fines were more than cut in half ($340 to $120) and I did online traffic school.

I've slowed down considerably since that ticket, all about cruise control.

Wait... Have you ever driven on the freeway before? I use 280 daily and usually cruise around 75-80 or so just to keep with the flow of traffic. Try going 65-70 some time on 280 when the traffic is flowing. Shoot, on 101 even - Wed morning I was just following cars at a safe distance when I noticed my speedo was buried (Celica tops at 90). What is going on in your windshield is MUCH more important than what's happening in your dash in most cases, especially at freeway speed.

And simply 'slowing down' will not keep you from getting tickets if a cop happens to 'like' you at that particular moment. I get tickets here and there, it's all part of the deal. In the off chance I don't beat the ticket, I chalk it up as my contribution to the revenue enhancement patrol. I try to do my part.

Actually about 3 other cars were going that fast and the officer even told me that the only reason he pulled me over because i was in the front. I did know he was back there because I saw him on the side of the freeway giving a tix but I guess he just finished when I passed him and I made the mistake of not slowing down just a bit. oh well whatever, i'll fight this one too.

BTW 80mph is flow of traffic on 280

But you didn't get what I'm saying. I guess what I meant surroundings is your vision in front plus the peripheral vision out of the front windshield. In order for cops to laser tag you, they have to do it head on with you car. This is why I said, if you're for sure driving safely, you'd notice a black car on the side of the road. =)
