Got a Ticket, anyone know of what I can do
Hey everyone
Yeah Im pretty new to the boards but I read it all the time. I just got my new Subby like 2 months ago and guess what, I got a ticket in Oakland. What happen is I was driving and did not see the person walking the crosswalk because the pillar of my car was blocking the view. Well of course that will not fly with the cop so I got a ticket for not yielding to a pedestrian. Of course, I did not hit the person and the person was a good half car away when I pass it
Okay, bottom line, I ****ed up and take responsiblity. Does anyone know if I can do the following cause I am more worried about my insurance
1) Traffic school?
2) fine cost?
3) It has been a good 9 years since my last moving vilolation ticket.
Just wanted to know what other people have went through.. thanks It has been a long time since my last ticket

I would go to traffic school. Won't be on your record, and won't affect your insurance. But you have to be good for 18 months. If you want to try to get it thrown out (and there is a good chance you can), follow Huck's link.
I got the EXACT same charge two years ago. Didn't see the pedistrian and went on about my biznazz and that didnt fly with the moto cop. I thought it was a BS charge so i contested it. Ended up getting it dropped becuase the cop didn't show.
You could contest it. Worst come to worst you pay the full fine. Or the judge may reduce the amount, or you may get off scott free. best of luck to you.

Go to court, plead guilty and the judge may reduce your sentence. If you are eligible for driving school, go to driving school. Going to court and then going to driving school is the best thing to do when you get a ticket as you won't have a point on your record and you may have to pay less money if you go before a judge as opposed to just paying the full fine and attending traffic school.

thanks everyone. I think I am going to try to fight it and see what happens. If it does not work out, I know there will be traffic school for me. Hey, **** happens and you got to be ready for it. Thanks again
