i have recently purchased a ver 7 gearbox and have been reading about the swap. I read somewhere that you have to convert the clutch from push type to pull. I was wondering how hard this was. Any info on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rance

you do have to change the rear diff to a 3.90 ratio tho...

Or put in the V7 rear diff! but that requires a lot more changes

lol i can just see the car down the street making horrible screeching noises without the ratios corrected.

Becareful here because alot depends on the origin of your car and the origin of the V7 gearbox you have bought. They must be kept the same ie.

JDM V7 box will require JDM rear diff

EU V7 box has different ratios to that of the JDM one.

Best to check which you have.

like the boys above said, double check your trannies country of origin....some Euro trannies came with 3.54 gears like the USDM WRX, so all you'd have to do is get a shorter prop shaft.....If it's a JDM tranny than you must use an STi rear end, including hubs, axles, e-brake shoes, rotors, backing plates, 2 pots, etc.....or you can cheat and use an older 3.9 diff from another Subaru......

good luck,
