My 1996 Legacy wagon is not starting sometimes. It will act like it is going to start but won't. I will wait a couple minutes, try it again and it still won't turnover. Then I will wait about 5 minutes and it will start. Then the check engine light pops on. The light will go off when I fill it up with gas or sometimes it will go off by itself. It is very frustrating! I am waiting to be stranded at some point. Help!

I found out the problem is my crankshaft and camshaft sensors are going out.

My subaru did the same thing once last week. Some in this forum told me to hit the starter with a broom stick.. which I did, and I've never had a problem since.
