Well I went to the dyno to see how my car was running, here is what I got, after 3 quick runs of tuning.

12 PSI you cheater Bill :P Nice torque though

Cheater, that is about what I expected from 12 PSI. On the whole you can expect 10 Hp per 1 pound of boost. So at 5 PSI I was making 180 - 190, add in 7 more and you are at 250. Though the stock headers don't flow to well as well as the Turbo at higher boost levels.

To upgrade or not to upgrade?

Upgrade :D

Bill has mad power now. LOOK OUT!!!!

Weaksauce

I think Bill you need to start planning for an 3.0RS-T. ;)

Those are nice numbers! Damn thats a lot of torque!
I see you're playing VERY safe by redline :) 10:1!

What Dyno was this done on? Just trying to compare these numbers to Mustangs and Dynojets.

I should have some numbers for you on a Dynojet at 12psi by spring time.

*Nevermind the Dyno question, its a Dynojet :)

Thats a damn nice torque curve. Now I just need a spare motor and new rods, pistons, head gasket and I can start to think about 12psi.

Why build the engine up. This dyno was done a completely stock engine. NO rods, pistons, or gaskets.

If you had rods pistons and gaskets you coudl probably run about 15 no problem. Make sure you get some headers too, otherwise you just can't flow above 10 as easy. Bewteen 10 and 12 was only about 12 Hp, it should bemore like 20.

I've got the Borla header sitting here waiting for soem touch-up welding as well as adding a support brace to it for the added weight of the piping and turbo. Not sure if the Borla will make a noticable difference though. Aren't you using a standalone ECU as well, a Link2 or a Tec?

Yep, I am using a Link Plus. Far better then any piggy back setup.

As for headers I am sure they will help, though I am sure WRX heads would work very nicely too. :) Though you may not get that low end torque the RS is famous for.

I'm probably going to have to get with you about the tuning of the Link Plus here in the next couple months.

N/A,

Whenever works for you. I will be doing this tuning stuff for probably quite a long time. :)

I need to wait for Shiv to finally start cranking out the EJ25 A/T up and down pipes cause the hack custom job need to be seriously cleaned up. That or get somebody to loan me a up and downpipe to see if a local shop can fab up something.

Hey N/A,

I might have someone over on that side of the country that could help you out. Let me talk wiht my poeple and then we will talk with your people. ;)

What Turbo are you using?

Shivs old SCC turbo kit only adding a Link2 instead of a TEC. Oh and some 440cc injectors from a Nissan. Thats about it. Only planning on the 6.6pounds that the wastegate spring is setup for.

damn is your tranny ok with that much torque?

what is ur setup.... i'm curious...i'd assume the tuning made lots of differnce

Is this just with the turbo kit and nothing extra like a 3in exhaust, lightweight underdrive pulleys, header or anything like that? I forgot to ask before.

christoph1371

no headers. i think 2.5 exhaust w/ magnaflow muffler and no pullies.

All I can say is that Bill's car is a beast.

The .pdf file from your page says the car has $800 headers Bill... are those the TWE's, and were they installed for the dyno pull?

christoph1371
02-15-2003, 12:13 AM
The headers were not on the car at the time of testing/dyno.

Cool, I can add a few ponies to my mental RS-T buildup :D But, are the TWE headers the ones listed or were they something else?

i-speed
02-15-2003, 01:17 AM
They were TWE, correct.

So was the up-pipe thing resolved yet?

just curious but are you running a straight T3 turbo? IIRC the T3 that came on the first gen ludespeed kits were only good for about 7-9psi.

akcel

so the sti injectors work fine with the link plus?....all that is needed (well for me since i have a 2001) would be 99 intake manifold and sti injectors...(since i have the link already)?

Kevin M
02-18-2003, 10:46 PM
The '01 manifold won't accept larger injectors?

akcel
02-18-2003, 11:44 PM
it will fit rc's kinda sorta they fit 'the best they can' and u still have to hack your harness to add the rc injectors...the 99 manifold lets the injectors fit right

i-speed
02-19-2003, 12:59 AM
Correct the RC's will fit with the 99 manifold. Though as said, you will have to cut the ends off the stock injectors wire plugs and put on some of RC engineerings injector plugs. No big deal...

Also the bracket is not quite long enough but with some washers or copper piping (cut) they will fit snug.

Though another suggestion would be to get 420 WRX injectors from poeple that are upgrading. They can be had for about 150. They are shorter, but should also work with the 99 manifold.

Oh yeah the Turbo is the T3 turbo, and for sure the effiency of the turbo definitely starts dropping around 10 PSI, though you can still make more.

A great turbo for the setup, since it spools up so damn fast.
