ok i know i've asked a simular question before, but i can't find the post....

I was looking into putting a FMIC on MY99 impreza, i came across 2 that i really liked so far for the Gc8 wrx in japan and europe.

Will these fit on my car? does the HKS fmic allow me to keep the fog lights or is it only the MRT one that does?

Also i came across this pic i saved on my pc, what FMIC kit is this?

The HKS FMIC will allow you to keep your fogs. I have this fitted in my previous GC8. However, the front bumper has to be cut internally to fit the FMIC nicely.

Yes, it will. With the exception of Ver 1,2,3 GC8s, the front bumper design is similar. But you will have to do fair amount of work on the bumper to fit. And, you cannot retain your standard air filter box. The picture which you inserted is a HKS FMIC.

I got the Greddy R-SPL (j-spec) from www.gruppe-s.com. (ask Max)

Since I have the USDM EJ20 swap, the piping needs minor modifications near the end tank elbows. coolant reservoir needs to be relocated. Front bumper and bumper beam needs to be hacked in order to make it fit properly. also the coolant hoses needs to be replaced as the GC6 radiator is different than the GC8s. (use Samco)

Good luck!

You could probably get a used R32 GTR FMIC and do the piping yourself for less then the cost of buying a new kit. At least thats my plan since I have friends in Japan still.

How much do R32 intercoolers go for? If you used that setup, would you be able to keep your fogs?

It all depends on the pipings. If you are going for a R32 IC, the customised pipings must not have too much elbow and kinks, and they must be the shortest distance from turbo to manifold.
If you have the time, you can even do an inverted manifold and relocate your alternator etc etc.

You can find the GTR FMICs used for about $300 if your patient enough. However thats assuming you can use yahoo.co.jp auctions or the used parts catalogs from there.

Do you have the specs on the GTR front mount? what is its flowing rate?

Thanks,

Cal

I don't have them on me but I know the stock unit is large and efficient enough to run a GTR at 600whp. Before guys upgrade anyways.

I've bought alot of stuff off of the yahoo auctions. You just always check the persons history before you send money. Also they won't ship outside the US so you will need somebody there to redirect the package to you in the US. I bought a car off of a yahoo auction once.
