Whats the outcome so far? any problem encountered during the transplant? nqwan 11-23-2002, 01:16 AM not a good match imo (assuming you're talking about the stock turbo) push2 11-23-2002, 03:34 AM Originally posted by nqwan not a good match imo (assuming you're talking about the stock turbo) why is that? Mach5WRX 11-23-2002, 04:51 AM Dylan put a Stock WRX turbo on a 2.2, ask him. nqwan 11-23-2002, 08:11 AM Originally posted by push2 why is that? too small for the ej25 imo bobby321 11-23-2002, 10:08 AM i have oneon the 1.8litre... made a huge differance... but it spools almost intantly..... onthe 2.5 it is just too small... you should pick up like a Mitsu 16g.... or a t3/t4 Kevin M 11-24-2002, 12:34 AM I'm just guessing, but I bet the T3/T4 is the most common turbo on RS-Ts. In fact, I'm going to post a poll to find out... N/A 11-24-2002, 04:51 AM You could always get a IHI Version5 and up turbo for around $400 from Japan. Plenty of air flow and spools very fast. RebelINS 11-24-2002, 04:23 PM The stock WRX turbo wouldn't be bad for low boost applications, like say 4.5 lbs. Stock the turbo is set to I think 6lbs of boost. If you went with this route I would recommend a boost controller though, because the boost falls of at redline, so a boost controller, would help with that. Anything over 4-5 pounds wouldn't work out that well, because the turbo becomes inefficient with the increased cfm's from the RS and high boost. -Wes Midwayman 11-24-2002, 04:43 PM Originally posted by RebelINS The stock WRX turbo wouldn't be bad for low boost applications, like say 4.5 lbs. Unless you'll looking for a dirt cheap setup, the wrx turbo is a poor choice for the ej25. ds baruuuuu 11-24-2002, 09:59 PM the factory wrx turbo would do good for low and mid end but couldnt flow the air from the 2.5 motor in the top stealth-wrx 11-24-2002, 10:00 PM many people have done this to save some money. turbo lag is almost gone but the top end struggles for more air as the displacment is much much larger adamsrs 11-25-2002, 03:24 PM i am putting an IHI VF30 on my EJ22 t block and EJ25 SOHC head motor! We'll see you that works! adamsrs RebelINS 12-06-2002, 10:14 PM You cant lower boost below the spring rate with a boost controler. True, you can't lower boost below the spring rate, but you can remove the wastegate spring, and use the boost controller for lower boost. -Wes ImprezaRSX 12-07-2002, 02:34 PM Hey Ed, I PM'd you about this. paulnose 12-10-2002, 12:19 PM I don't know why I have to keep logging in every five minutes, but anyways.... If you want to do some light reading (not really light at all, but I did all the math for you, so all you have to look at are the results) you can read my post on http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=278128 it has to due with reasons why not to go with the stock WRX turbo on the 2.5L Although I am open to any comments or suggestions anyone has on the subject. -Paul DetailAddict 12-13-2002, 01:22 PM damn paul! thanks for the thread. what do you do? STi-Nismo Dood 12-13-2002, 06:19 PM People who have actually put on the TD04L said that anything over 6psi is too HOT to be efficient for the turbo to spool, regardless of all the math calculations.
