View Full Version : HID's in '04 WRX. Who says they blind people?

I installed my HID's on my '04 WRX and have no had any problems with hot spots and/or getting flashed by oncoming traffic.

Didn't even have to lower the beam on the first night of testing so I left it.

The beam pattern is almost perfect, if not designed for the housing and there is a distinct cuttoff. There are no hotspots either. I'm using a CATz kit.

I have read tons of posts about HID's in WRX's blinding people. I've seen the 02-03 WRX headlights w/ HID's and they do blind people, but I remember reading people complaining about the 04's as well, hense 04 WRX owners going all out and buying the STI headlights.

If anyone needs help installing these kits in your 04+ WRX I'll be able to help out. When I first posted here no one seemed to know anything about the install. Luckily a friend of a friend had them installed and I looked at his system.

most of the problems people had when it came to blinding people after installing an HID kit on their 02/03 WRX were because they had JDM STi head lights. most 02/03 WRX owners w/ the regulat head lights should be fine.

the most important thing is to lower the aim level of your headlights a tiny bit lower than stock, to furthur prevent unwanted attention

also, cleaning your headlights, prevents glare

I didn't have to lower them at all. In my old car I did because they tended to blind, but the WRX I didn't have to touch.

I think the cutoff is pretty distinct in the stock 04 WRX headlights. I'd have to compare to an STI to tell the difference if there is one. Otherwise I'd almost be able to say they were designed for HID's.

Yea hidplace.com is correct. CATZ HID's are gone. Good HID kids are kinda hard to come by these days.

I use H1 D2s bulbs btw.
