19mm shock bolts...how the heck do these come off?
I worked my way through a failed install of a set of AGXs and Tein springs this weekend. All was well until I got to the bottom 19mm bolt on the shock. It would NOT move.
I tried a 15" breaker bar. I cracked the socket.
I tried WD-40. Nope.
I tired Liquid Wrench. Nope.
I tried a hardened socket with a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter, and a 3' extension on the bar. I broke the adapter clean off. (It was all I had let that would fit.
What the heck? Has anyone else had this kind of trouble doing these bolts? What's the best bet? I don't have access to air tools, but I can get a torch. Is that the way to go?
Jeez...

Use the lug nut wrench/ crow bar that comes with the car/jack. Its 19mm. Put a pipe over the handle (at leasta couple of feet long) for more torque.

listen... hit the top of the bolt with a hammer hard several times... just not so hard that you damage the top of the bolt or anything in the way if you miss. If you need to, use a solid peice of metal as a punch to get a good wack at it. The bolt is just seized and a good knock or five with usually help break the metals apart. Then use an impact wrench to take it off with about 90psi behind it (if you use more pressure you'll seriously shorten the life of the impact gun)
If you don't have an impact wrench... You need an impact socket and a regular breaker bar (18" should be fine). Put the socket on and instead of trying to flex it off with muscle, just hit the end of the bar with a hammer untill if comes off. It will come off. You just made your own imact wrench.
It needs a shock to break the seize... NOT more leverage. If you have more leverage, it will not help because you have that much more flex between the hit of the hammer and the bolt. 18"-20" bar is the best.
Please let us know if this helps.

I'll have to give that a try. I've got a torch ready for plan B, but I'll start there. Unreal...I've never came across such a stubborn bolt before.
