What exactly is that? Another coat of clear coat or something?!

If your worried about paint chips to be honest invest in a clear bra... from rockblockers... I am going to pick up one from them because it seems like a good deal to protect your front end.. I think it's like $200 or something close to that.

I've had my car for 8 months and there are chips all on the hood from driving.. this is mainly due to highway driving but I think subaru should take the time and make the paint a tad thicker...

i think its just an extra coat of wax. spend the money on a clear bra or a really good wax job.

I got that paint and interior protection from the dealer (noob new car buyer)
While I have not noticed anything special about the paint... they included some special protection for the interior. With my 3 kids... and all the junk they spill/drop/leave behind, the interior has held up pretty well (2.5 years). So if they are including interior protection, AND you have kids/friends who might mess/vomit/etc all over your interior... you might want to get that.

Also... don't forget, they will probably need to reseal the paint after a couple of months (I forget exactly how long)... and you get that for free... so its like getting your car washed/polished for free It comes out looking "shiney"

But is it worth $380... well... your pocket will decide...

i wouldn't go as far to say that. . . i would however challenge you to prove that having it is completely necessary. . . try this. . .call all your local body shops and ask them about this process and see if they can do it for less. . . if they even offer it ... that will tell u if its a scam or not.

hope that helps

I dont think that it is worth it. Seems like a glorified wax. And for $350+??? Agree with earlier post that it would be a good idea to check out other options through local shops

While I was waiting for my salesman to do something, I watched them spray that coating on a car. They used a pump and spray gun like we use around the ranch to kill weeds. It's not the most precision spray gun on the market, and they sprayed everything (windows, mirrors, rack, tires, tail lights, etc). It just seems like a type of 'Armorall'. I was worried that if it was a coating that hardened, I risked it turning colors and possibly cracking.

So when they asked if I wanted it, I said no. Then they said they'd throw it in for free, so I told them "I'll pay you NOT to put that on my car". They got the hint.
