I am going to purchase a carbon fiber hood for my 02 wrx within the next month becuase they are just so damn sexy, just wondering if anyone knows which one has the best quality. Fitment is definetly important too. Ive searched on them but was thinking between Seibon, ViS, and Northwest Bodykits. I am more towards Seibon... anyone have any suggestions why or why i shouldnt get it? any info will help.. detail photos will be nice as well.

Your stock hood is pretty light, but I personally like carbon fiber hood. I had a Seibon one when I had my WRX, it fits really great! Are you getting the vented one with the scoop or the oem style one?

no, im getting the oem. are the edges rolled on them?

Rolled as in smooth as opposed to with an edge thats sharp and looks like it was just cut out of a slab of whatever its supposed to be made of.

I have a bodykits NW CF hood and I love it. The fit was perfect, it was 2 piece and very nice quality IMO. The stock hood is VERY light and my hood is heavier than the stock one. This is purely an aesthetic mod. :)

I picked up a Fiber Images hood when someone crumpled my stock aluminum one. It's definitely lighter than my stock and frankly, was working just fine without hood pins. (But ohio actually has a freakin' law about installing hood pins on non-metal hoods)

Anyway, I got it with blue kevlar weave one direction and carbon fiber the other. So it has blue in it depending on how it's lit. :banana:

If you want looks... I'd say check out the Fiber Images' hoods. They are 2 piece so you can swap in an STI hood scoop later if you feel so led.


(they are pricier than some of the others, but hey, they are still cheaper than getting an aluminum hood and getting it painted....)

thanks fellaz. yeah i looked into the fiber images.. its not too expensive and if its got a blue hue to it thats sick. i believe you get what you pay for... thats why i was kinda iffy on the NW bodykits hood.

There's nothing wrong with my bodykits NW hood. It's alot better than the other CF hoods I've seen around my area. The edges are rounded, the weave pattern is flawless even around the scoop area, etc. But yeah, it's up to you. Here's a pic of it.

I used my stock scoop since I liked how it looked.

This is my Fiber Images hood with the black/blue Carbon/Kevlar weave.

I got it from Mantaray Motorsports (http://www.mmrusa.com/carbonhoods.htm) . Heh, they used a pic of my car for their picture of how the Scooby hoods look! :banana: :banana:
