Every replica STI CF wing I've seen has black plastic covers on the base. I just found one with CF covers on the base. Anyone ever seen these wings? Know anything about the product quality? Same as the other replicas?

I think the wing is the same and from the same company, but that you can order CF bases from them. If I recall correctly, WuWRX (I think that his SN?) ordered the CF mount covers.

Well I guess I'll find out next week when my new wing arrives. :D

After surviving my first wife and barely hanging on with this one I can tell you one thing....

Do it , buy it , anything to make sure Huck isn't the only one with a badarse wing....always showing us up and all! Huck , you know that is going to look very sweet on white. Congratulations on a nice find.Those covers are the only things that bother me about my wing , aside from how much water entered my trunk ptior to siliconing (sp ? usualy I just say "implants") around the bolts(those supplied gaskets did nothing!).

Vince was wondering about painting one up too , their is no rule that says you can't paint CF , and I am sure it would look great color matched. To me , nothing is prettier than a CF weave in the sun , "dry" or "wet" it just looks good .

I've painted CF and it turned out fine. Just got to prep it like any other body piece.

Cohlineman, I'll talk to guy. He mentioned that he fabricated the CF covers at their own shop. Maybe it's possible to buy them apart from the wing. :D :eek:

Tell us all how you like it huck after you install it. Also tell us how much it costs.

Well, I finally got the wing. And there was a lot more different than just the CF base covers.

For starters the wing itself is in 3 pieces with bolts used to attach the vertical CF pieces to the horizontal section. Although the final product does resemble the other popular replicas out there this detail would leave 2 flush bolts exposed on each side of the wing. Take a look at the photo I posted earlier... no bolts visible. So, the wing in that picture is not the same one I was sent. :mad:

Second, and most important, the fiber itself has quite a few imperfections in it. Looks like finger impressions in it. Looks like someone was messing around while the resin was drying. Looks bad verging on terrible.

Third, the metal supports are broken down into 4 pieces for each side as opposed to the single cast piece on the other replicas. Lot's of extra bolts required. Strange.

Then there's the fact I got shipped two right supports instead of a right and a left. :eek:

So now I'm working on a full refund.

On the plus side, the CF base covers look really good. I'm inquiring as to wether or not I can buy the covers seperately. :P

I'll post the companies contact info once things get straightened out.

Gruppe-s is $375 shipped I believe. Rav-Spec is $325 shipped. Most of the ones on e-bay are $255 plus shipping.

I got a slight price break one mine b/c Gruppe-S screwed up my order; it was about $350 if I remember right.

I finally got in touch with the guy and he seems to be going out of his way to take care of the problem. He's sending me another one. Supposedly a different version. I can pick which one, if either, I want to keep. He's shipping the second wing out on Monday.

In the meantime, I picked up another CF wing. Oops, now I'll have 3. Plus that 22b replica i've got lying around somewhere. :P

lol that seems like alot of wings....but i thikn the sti replica looks REALLY nice anyways, and i never knew they were only like 400..cuz the real cf sti spoiler is what..1000 something? hope everything works out for the best..

wait..how are u gonna see how it looks like on ur car? do u have to uninstall ur wing and put his on..wont that took a LONG time..but im sure huck's grown some patience..waiting for his situation to get resolved.

My 22b is painted Aspen White but it needs some fiberglass work so it would need to be repainted anyways. It wouldnt be too much trouble swapping the 2 wings.

Guess I need to go take some pictures now. :D

Okay, i know i've been lagging on the explanation but I was waiting for a 3rd wing to show up. :eek:

So here's the story. I bought the wing from company I found on eBay. I was a bit nervous since the wing was different from most of the ones out there but the Carbion Fiber bases looked hot. The pics were great and I got lots of good email responses. I ended up buying the wing outside of eBay (he had 11 wings for sale) and he shipped it in a couple of days and gives me tracking number.

Wing shows up and it's not like the wing I got pics of. The carbon fiber is messy, was shipped with a couple of pieces wrong, and the wing is a different (3 piece) design. On the plus side, the carbon fiber bases are pretty damn good looking.

I send raging email to my contact at the company. Guy takes a few days to get back to me. Says he was having server problems. Ha. He offers to refund me my money or exchange it for another wing he has. Sounds like the other one is actually the replica that everyone else has (Choku Dori, etc). He says he'll ship it out and I can decide which one or neither I want to keep.

Proceeds to take a month for him to ship out. Excuse after excuse. I still haven't received it but he says he finally shipped it out on Tuesday. Should be here soon.

In the meantime, I found someone local that was selling their cf replica wing. But he had melted his bases when heat gunning them in attempt to remove them from his WRX. I bought it for cheap and salvaged parts from both wings. Enough to give me a nice CF wing with nice CF bases. It cost me more than I had planned but I have a damn unique wing now. :D

If that other wing ever shows up I'm thinking about never emailing the guy again and hoping he forgets about me.
