I have a 1998 Legacy for which I recently purchased an ACT clutch kit (SB2-HD00). Upon attempting to install the clutch, the Suby dealer found the pressure plate did not fit properly even though the bolt holes matched up. Apparently it was going to rub the flywheel. I contacted ACT to verify that I had the proper clutch kit and I do. Accordingly, I now have stock a pressure plate in the car and I am desirous of more grab. Is there anyone out there with a explaination? Thanks, Watty

Sounds as if your Suby dealer didn't want to install your ACT clutch assembly for whatever reason. If it bolted up and the installed height was not different then it should have worked. The pressure plate bolts directly to the flywheel, therefore it is always in constant contact with each other. Just speculation, though, without being able to actually visually inspect it.

Dealers are like that, my one diddnt want to install a lightweight bumper beam when i got a US spec bumper! I suggest getting a second opinion at a good shop near you and having them do the job instead.
