Aight everybody. What are some ideas. I liked the place VR and I met up at (by wash park).

VRWRX
03-15-2004, 11:54 AM
I like that place too - easy to find and it's big. I still think we should meet up on a Sunday and go over to the Hamburger Stand. Or we could meet up and just kick it. I don't really care. I just wanna see other Subies!

Magish
03-15-2004, 03:24 PM
Why not meet somewhere on the west side of town and then hit the mountain canyons? That would awesome and I think more people would come that way.

wrx21
03-15-2004, 06:05 PM
Last time we had planed somthing, I think we scheduled it too soon. Cause theres us usual guys that look at this forum three times a day, and some others which may only take a look at it once a week. If we set a date say 3 weeks ahead we might have more of a turn out. As long as nobody hurts themself snowboarding the day of the event .. LOL

Thats not a bad Idea .. Lets start planning it. Question 1 - Where are we going to drive to. 2 - Where are we going to meet up. 3 - What day and time do you guys want to meet.

VRWRX
03-16-2004, 12:12 PM
It should probably be a couple weeks down the road so we can get more people involved...

The drive up to Estes Park is pretty fun, but you have to go way north to get to highway 34...

wrx21
03-16-2004, 02:38 PM
Yeah Estes Park is kind of a cool drive but 36 is kind of far from you guys down south. How about Highway 58 to Central City

VRWRX
03-16-2004, 03:59 PM
There is too much traffic on the way up to Central City. I always get frustrated that I can't carve on the way up there. Then I get there, lose all my money, and have to drive back home behind grandpa in his Buick.

Magish
03-16-2004, 04:44 PM
Parmalee gultch is a great road as long as you hit it not on a sunday as there are huge cop patrols that day. If we did that I would suggest up Morison road to parmale gultch road, then Parmalee to 285, then depending on time, either up 285 a bit or back down to town. As far as a meet up place, there is a big parking lot at the Breakplace Conoco right by bandimere which could work.

Magish

2000 posts! WooT for me!

Now back to your usual buisness....

wrx21
03-17-2004, 09:02 AM
Are you talking about the dirt lot across the street from the conoco or in the conoco .. anyways that dosn't matter I would be down to meet there .. then just decide from there where we should go.

wrx21
03-17-2004, 09:09 AM
Another Idea if people dont want ot travel far is Lookout Mountain Road. We could meet at the truck stop at I-70 and Ward Road and then head up there.

VRWRX
03-17-2004, 09:25 AM
I've never been up to lookout mountain. I would like to do that.

wrx21
03-17-2004, 09:37 AM
Anyone else up for Lookout Mountain Road

KDamericano
03-17-2004, 11:33 AM
I could get down with lookout mountain. We could meet up on either side.

wrx21
03-17-2004, 12:28 PM
Ok it looks like we have the usual crew down .. wrx21, VRWRX, imprezastifan88, and KDamericano. Lets try to get a few more cars to come with. and then start thinking about a day / meeting place

Magish
03-17-2004, 12:45 PM
Lookout mountain would be great. I'll try getting my uncle/fellow subie owner to come.
Cheers

Let's shoot for a few weeks down the road. First or second week in April? Preferably a weekend, right?

Magish
03-17-2004, 03:24 PM
Definately not the 1st weekend in April, though the 2nd would work for me

KDamericano
03-17-2004, 03:32 PM
Okay, so possible april 11? Maybe april 10? Either of those will work for me.

VRWRX
03-17-2004, 04:00 PM
Either of those work for me too.

wrx21
03-17-2004, 05:55 PM
They work for me too

VRWRX
03-17-2004, 06:10 PM
Alright, so 4 of us in for April 10 or 11. Now, let's go recruit!

Magish
03-17-2004, 07:33 PM
Anyone want to battle the sure to come flames on NASIOC? The rocky mountain fourm there gets a few people that might want to come.

Also, If you want me to I could get a few non subie (mainly MR2) owners to come.
Cheers
-Jeff

VRWRX
03-18-2004, 08:00 AM
Why is there such a grudge between here and NASIOC? Weren't the two sites one in the past? What about the folks on clubWRX?

VRWRX
03-18-2004, 08:01 AM
Oh, and I could probably get some of my friends with Hondas to come, if we are inviting other non-Suby's...

Yeah they were but there became bad blood between Alex (imprezer) and Nick over on NASIOC. So alex took the i-club domain name and started his own site. A few people over there are still quite bitter about it.

I'm gonna be out for the next 4 days, so you guys figure it out and then ill find out on tuesday.

wrx21
03-18-2004, 12:47 PM
I just realised that the 11th is Easter Sunday .. Maybe we should push this out one more weekend, Beacuse I wont be able to make it if its on the 11th then. Unless you guys want to make it the 10th.

VRWRX
03-18-2004, 01:59 PM
I'm down for the 10th. Saturday is better for me anyway. If we did it on Sunday, there was a possibility that I would miss part of the NASCAR race. That would not make me a happy camper...

Magish
03-21-2004, 09:06 PM
I'm back from aspen now so time to figure this out :D

Good point on the easter weekend thing. I know some of you dont want to but the next week might work better because of that.

wrx21
03-22-2004, 08:22 AM
I agree .. I would probally go on that saturday just because I will have relatives staying with us, but I probally should stay around.

wrx21
03-22-2004, 03:04 PM
So Lets Go Sunday April 18th. - We can meet in the soundtrack parking lot in the denver west shoping center. I'm guessing everyone is coming from the east so I will give directions accordingly. If its easier to use I-70 take it West to the Denver West Pkwy. Exit (1st. Exit after Youngfield St.) then turn south on Denver West back over Highway and make your 1st Right into the Strip Mall (SoundTrack is at the very end). If its easier to come in from 6th. Ave take 6th. West to Indiana St. Go north on indiana to W. Colfax then colfax east to About 1 block to the enteranmce to the Shopping Center (SoundTrack) Across the Street from the Colorado Mills Mall.

From there we are right off of I-70 and just a few miles to Lookout Mountain Road.

Let me know what you think and if you have any other places in mind. I chose SoundTrack because they have a big parking lot and its never full.

Is anyone down for this^^^^or do you have any other Ideas of where to meet / drive?

VRWRX
03-23-2004, 08:33 AM
That sounds good to me. What time?

wrx21
03-23-2004, 11:09 AM
What time do you guys want to meet? I was thinking around Lunchtime.

VRWRX
03-23-2004, 11:11 AM
Good idea. We could grab a bite before we go on the drive, if we want...

wrx21
03-23-2004, 11:28 AM
Cool then lets meet at like 1:00, Because its Sunday and some people might not get home from church until around then. If 1:00 doesn't work for someone let us know. If not we should just plan on 1:00.

Also, are we inviting just Subarus .. cause I have a couple of friends one with a SRT-4 and the other with an EVO-8. They would probally come with us.

Magish
03-23-2004, 02:10 PM

Agreed, I want to know what everyone wants. I'm down either way. If we want others to come I could go call on the MR2 owners who are always great.

VRWRX
03-23-2004, 02:28 PM
We could make this first one Subaru-only so we can all meet eachother and all that jazz, then we could include the others on the next one after we all knew eachother a bit. Just a thought. I really don't care either way because I have Honda friends that would probably come...

wrx21
03-23-2004, 03:03 PM
Ok .. thats probally a good Idea, we will make this one a Subaru only (unless you guys really want to bring your friends along .. they can tape a subaru logo to their bumper and well let it slide) And then next time anyone will be welcome .. Unless they drive a Mustang .. LOL

Great job VR. Also, because this is our first meet I would just like to lay down some guidelines for everyone's enjoyment, safety and pocketbooks:
1. NO STREET RACING WHAT SO EVER! I would not be suprized if a couple of ricer civics come up to us wanting to go. DO NOT RACE. I know most/all of you are not street racers but we want to keep this as legal, safe and fun as possible. Worst thing that could happen is one of us gets stupid and we all get pulled over and ticketed.
2. Try to keep it at a safe, respectable speed I know we will be pushing it most/all the time, but lets just not go crazy. For example, 130 in a 55mph zone just is not acceptable. Also, I dont know if I am the only non-WRX (i.e. RS or legacy) that will be attending but we/i cant keep up with that (well, i at least cant RIGHT NOW ;)

So basically, all i am saying is dont be stupid. Dont drink before the drive or anything like that. I personally cant afford to have a ticket on my record (money wise). Also, Having a bad accident on our first meet ever would not be a good thing. Especally on lookout mountain, where you have 300+foot drops on your passenger side

Also, feel free to bring girlfirends, wifes, kids, nephews, dads, uncles, ect for the drive. THough I personally would never bring my girlfriend to a car meet, some like those kinds of things and would enjoy it.
Cheers
-Jeff

-Brandon

VRWRX
04-13-2004, 07:19 AM
Yeah, I think we are going to eat before we meet up. I'm not too familiar with what's around there either, but I'm sure there's a ton of stuff around the mall.

Anyone with suggestions for grub?

wrx21
04-13-2004, 08:05 AM
Well I guess I'l just list all of the resturants I know are around there.

Outback, Mimmis, On the Border, Wendys, Chilis, Johnny Rockets, Tokyo Joes, Qudoba. and I know theres more i just don't remember what.

I guess we can always meet up and then decide where to eat.

VRWRX
04-13-2004, 09:04 AM
It would probably be a good idea to figure out where we're going beforehand, so that way if people show up late, they know where to find us...

Takumi.wRx
04-13-2004, 09:34 AM
All of those sound good... you guys can decide. I believe that we shouldnt go to the resturants though because they take to long to get your food. So, I believe it should be between Wendys, Tokyo Joe's, qudoba, or any "fast food" kind of a place. Just a thought becuase i would like to drive for as much time as possible.

Its up to you. I personally dont mind a few more people coming along but thats just me :).

Tokyo Joe's is fine with me too. So lets meet at soundtrack or wherever we were originally going to meet and then we can head over to Tokyo Joe's.

wrx21
04-13-2004, 08:31 PM
Tokyo Joes is in the same parking lot as we are meeting so that works out pretty well.

so lemme get this straight just to be positive:
Tokyo Joe's is right across the street from colorado mills mall, correct? Just wanna make sure cuz I am unfamiliar with that area of town.

VRWRX
04-15-2004, 09:35 AM
That's right. But we're meeting in the parking lot of the SoundTrack first to get everyone together. We will probably hang out in the lot and wait for a bit before we eat.

It's still 1:00 in the SoundTrack parking lot, right?

wrx21
04-15-2004, 09:50 AM
Yeah, its on the other side of colefax. Tokyo Joes and SoundTrack are in the same strip mall area.

wrx21
04-15-2004, 09:52 AM

Instead of completely hijacking the Introduce Yourself thread, I'll just post in this one. What's the plan once you get to the top of Lookout Mountain? That's less than 10 minutes from my house, and I have family coming in town that day, so I might meet up with you guys for a little while. I'm not really sure how that day is going to work out though, so no promises. Are you only driving up Lookout Mountain, or are you going to hit some of the other canyon roads up here? I'd read the whole thread, but it's way too long.

VRWRX
04-15-2004, 04:14 PM
We don't really have a plan. We just want to drive. If there are other good roads up that way, then we may take them. We're just flying by the seat of our pants, and it feels good! :D

Takumi.wRx
04-15-2004, 07:13 PM

I could definitely meet up with you guys in Evergreen and show you some fun roads. I just don't want to drive all the way down to Lakewood just to drive back up here. I'm poor and gas is expensive.

Takumi.wRx
04-16-2004, 02:46 PM
Yeah, gas is pretty darn expensive :( 2$ a gallon for 93 octane *tear. But anyways its up to you, your not obligated to join us if you can't do so. Remember that this is most likley not the last meet :D

kellie
04-16-2004, 03:46 PM
There's a station up here that's $1.87/gal for premium. :D

I can most likely meet up with you in Evergreen. I have family coming in town, but I'm not sure what time they'll be here, so maybe one of you should PM me your number, and I'll just call on Sunday and let you guys know whether or not I'll be there. That way you don't end up waiting around for me.

Alright guys, I dropped the ball. I forgot to bring the disc with the pics on it to work with me today, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to post them. My bad. I would do it tonight, but it will take forever on dial-up. Maybe if I'm bored at home tonight I will...

Oh, the drive was SWEET. I'd never been up that road before, and it was killer. I'm looking forward to the next meet. Hopefully more can come next time...

Its alright Jake... Just make sure you post them some time this week :D

Yeah the road was totally kick ass. I'll look for an overhead satellite image of it, or part of it since it was really long.

That's all we did. We met and ate, and then drove up the backside of LM and then down the frontside. Then we turned around and did it again backwards.

I know. I can't believe that I had never been on it before. I was missing out!
