I was wondering when to change the engine oil? 3K mile intervals or according to the service manual?
I looked in the manual and the next scheduled service for me is at 7.5K miles. Now, I changed my oil at 3K and going to 7.5K with the same oil seems a little strange to me, or am I missing something here? With the last car I had, I changed oil every 3K miles.
Also, does anyone know what services are performed at each service point? I can't find that information anywhere.
Thanks in advance

i do it every 3 months regardless of how much i drive. my last interval was about 1200 mi. put it this way it never hurts to always change your oil.

Same here, I do some type of mod or maintenance every couple months and change the oil and filter every time.
If you're gonna jack the car up anyways might as well.

It looks like I'll stick to the 3K mile mark oil change, like I did with my old car.
I know I asked this before, but does anyone know what services are included at all the scheduled maintenance points?
Oh, one more question, what kind of oil do the dealerships put in? Synthetic, non-synthetic, brand maybe? My oil level looks a little low and I'd like to add some.
Thanks

I use synthetic and change every 5-6k miles, I always use the stock filter though.

I change at LEAST every 3 months. Sometimes (not TOO often), 2 or 3 times in that period. I spend a lot of time at the track, though. I'd rather pay a little more out of pocket now, then a lot later.

I just had the dealer do the 7.5K service last Saturday(oil/filter change, tire rotation). They also gave me a little sheet that had all service intervals and what they included.
I think that I'll stick to changing my oil between around 3K miles or 3 months though. I just can't bring myself to wait for each service interval before changing oil. It seems like to long a time to go with the same oil.

When I change oil depends on the type of car, type of oil used, and driving style.
On my WRX (freeway miles, driven less than 9K per year), I change every 5K miles with Mobil1.
On my wife's Honda CR-V (driven on freeway maybe 1 or 2 times a month, driven less than 5K per year), I change the oil every 2.5K files with Quaker State dino. I change every 2.5K so that the oil is changed at least once every 6 months. City driving with no freeway is hard on the engine because it doesn't get up to optimal operating temp easily/often.
