I wouldnt get these unless I had a truck. But if I did get them at all I'd get one that had a matte/brushed finished rather than a polished finish. Yes, one consideration is that a polished finish can scratch. The important thing to think about is that polished metal will reflect sunlight and possibly blind you momentarily while driving. That would suck for you, everyone in your car and those cars around you.

I don't like them personally, but to each their own. If you do get them though, i don't think that sunlight reflection will be a problem, since the floors really don't see much sunlight. And if the floor did see sunlight, i don't think it wouldn't reflect to your eyes.

i got them but don't have them installed at the time. if you do decide to install them you're gonna need some velcro.

I also, sanded, primed and painted mine matte black so there's no reflection.

the diamond plate at the gym might not be scratched because it is most likely stainless steel

Make sure you secure it to the floor somehow, in the event of a hard crash or a rollover, a free-floating piece of metal in your cabin could really mess you up.

Correct.

You can actually buy sheets of diamond plating at OSH. It's heavy, expensive, and most absolutely steel.

I think I'm going to get a small piece of diamond plate and rivet it to the mat only where my heel rests. That way I get the protection without the hassle of a full-size metal plate.

Just a thought though.
