OK, I took my car to Aomori this week and talked to the shop that installed my engine because I have a knock. The guy said its because the oil has hardened because it is cold and there is nothing wrong with my engine. This is not the regular person I talk to due to him having the Japanese New Years time off. I know something is wrong but I am not sure what it is. It doesn't do it at idle, I can hear it at a steady RPM but not when accelerating in third, fourth, or fifth gear.
It sounds like its comming from the back of the engine bay and while moving if I push the clutch in it will go away. Does anyone have any idea what it might be? It sounds really bad and I am pissed about it I have not run the car hard since I had this engine installed. It is not leaking oil and its not smoking but it sounds really bad.
I am going to take the car back this weekend but I would like to have an idea of what it may be before I get back there.

Have you tried an oil change to thinner sythetic fluid. Might help. I wouldn't drive it until you figure it out. Noise is never a good thing.

1st and 2nd gear are low engine load gears. That is why you do a clutch slip test in third or fourth. So what you are describing is the noise goes away when the motor is under a heavier load. Could be piston slap? Probably not in the new motor though. Again I would try a short period of sythetic and than go back to regular to allow break in.

The clutch is throwing me though. I can sometimes feel the type of sound you are describing when I push the clutch down really far like I am smashing the pressure plate too hard. But I cannot hear it and only slightly feel it. That could be something in the flywheel. Maybe a loose bolt or something to that effect.
