Well if you had this happen to you check your coils. I had this going on for a while and it would happen maybe once a week and I took it to the dealer twice. The first time they could not find anything because the CEL was not solid and it did not store anything in memory. The second time I took it in I got a CEL(solid and flashing) and they found a misfire in #2. The problem was a bad connection with the coils. So if you are having misfires check your coils and plugs because thats where the problem might be. Just thought I post this. Add info to this page. :D

Nev,
good info, but as for misfire on cylinders, it is recommended to change a set of colder plugs.

Cal,
Do you still get misfires with your car? I still do once in while and I have it cleared whenever. Are you also running colder spark plugs to get rid of the misfires?

Earlier WRXs had reflashes to the ECU done to get rid of the misfire code. Wish I could remember what cylinder the misfire was in. Mine was done almost a year ago. It was do to sloppy programing in the ECU by Subaru, there was never a misfire.

Most of the ECU inspired misfire cases were in cyl #3

i had a similar problem but with no hesitation. i kept on recieveing misfire codes. it went from misfires in 1 and 3 to misfires in all 4 cylinders. i took it to the dealer and they could not replicate the problem even though they knoew it was misfiring. they suck. but anyways i did the work myself by swithcing to colder plugs like cal suggested and it qorks fine now. i went with one step colder. the plugs i used were denso irridiums ik20's i think.

Hey,
I'm getting a misfire in cylinder 1 in my RS. The CEL flashed and then it just stayed on.
Think I'll be able to switch to the colder plugs in my RS and fix this issue? What are my options in terms of plugs?
Also, will the CEL go out by itself if you've taken care of the problem?
Thanks,
Phil
