View Full Version : BBS wheels- best price?
unthanke 12-31-2002, 03:56 PM I like the look of the BBS wheel option that Subaru offers, but I'm not infatuated with the price. Does anyone know where these might be had at a discount? Tire Rack doesn't offer them, I tried.
Thanks,
Erik
dorifto88 12-31-2002, 09:01 PM er....nope
most sites list em for like 700 something a wheel IIRC....
good luck...
enigma 01-01-2003, 08:34 AM $700/wheel? I have checked around online and founs $229. I can't belive that they have that much markup. Is there something different about the BBS at Tirerack vs the BBS at the dealer?
Is one cast vs forged?
Thanks.
unthanke 01-01-2003, 11:38 AM I know BBS wheels are forged, which may partially account for them being more expensive. Where did you see them for $229?
ImprezaRSDriver 01-01-2003, 02:15 PM There is a major difference between the two. The biggest difference is that the 229 one is cast and the 700 one is forged. In addition, the 700 one is from BBS Japan while the 229 wheel is from BBS Germany. The model of the 229 wheel is the BBS RK model. These wheels are not factory option wheels from Subaru. These are wheels that have the necessary dimensions to fit Subarus.
enigma 01-01-2003, 10:32 PM it was 289 at tirerack. 229 was for another set I was interested in.
Thanks for the replies

"$722.71
Helps give the WRX a racier look, improved handling and performance. Item comes with valve stem. (SOLD EACH) "
ImprezaRSDriver 01-02-2003, 09:51 PM Just to let you know that the valve stems are like $30 each and they are a nicely made aluminum piece.
unthanke 01-03-2003, 09:37 AM FYI
I bought the Enkei Bortex RPM 2 (they look identical to the BBS wheels and are forged) and Kumho 225-45R17 tires from Whalen Tire for $1250.

yeah, those are sweet also! but do they fit big brake kits like stoptechs?
btw..how much do they weigh?
unthanke 01-06-2003, 03:10 PM I don't know if they'll fit a big brake kit. I'm happy with the stock brakes so far. I was expecting to recieve them today, but they didn't show up. I'll weigh them when they get here (with tires).

I believe I heard somewhere they will not fit a big brake kit, like Stoptechs.
Rota made some Formel rims you might look into.

Formels are sweet also....
damn...after i got my SDR's, ive been lookin more closley at wheels...i
ImprezaRSDriver 01-07-2003, 08:46 AM I know for sure that the factory forged BBS wheels will clear the StopTechs. I know because I have both.
bone324 01-07-2003, 09:20 AM Save your money and buy five sets of Rotas. Subaru optional equipment is WAY overpriced.
