I purchased a 2002 WRX wagon with manual trans from a subaru dealer a few days ago and just noticed a vibration noise.

It only comes when I have the RPMs at 3000 or above.

It gets louder with more RPMS, and when I let off the gas it fades away. This noise is produce whether in gear or in neutral.

The sound seems to be coming from underneath the shifter and its loud enough to hear over the heater fan at full blast.

The car has 31k miles and just had its 30k maintenance done 1k miles ago.

Please let me know if anyone has seen this.

Thanks!

never heard of this problem befor. If i were you I would take it back and have the dealer look at it asap.

Dunno if this will help. But my 2000 OBS had the same problem. Turns out that ice was built up on the drive shaft for some strange reason :)

Ok I admit. I was playing in the snow two days before.

The dealer charged me $50 to wash the under side of my car with warm water.

Thanks for the responses. I ended up bring it to the dealer and the noise was gone....go figure. I think your right tho Kuth, probably ice buildup-I had some fun in the snow as well :)

Everythings fine and dandy, love the car. 10x better than my '03 Mazda Protege5.
