I'm thinking of getting some rims for my 02 wrx sedan that are 17x8.5. I would like to have some 225/45 tires on it. Also my car is fairly low, top of the tire meets with curve of the fender. Does anybody know if this will work without too much rubbing? If so, what offset does the wheel need to be? I've been seeing 45offset, but I'm not sure if this will put my wheels too far out.

this will definitely work. i'm running 17x8.5 Gramlights with a 225/45 tire and no rubbing at all. my car has been lowered about 1/4-1/2 and inch, but i don't think that it would be a problem if you're a little bit lower.

i think the offset on my wheels is either 50 or 52, i'll have to check.

anybody else that has this setup? or pics of the setup?

The setup would work, but it would work just as well on a set of 17x7.5s which would save you some money if you haven't already acquired them.

I am running 17x7.5 +45 w/ 245/40/17 on a WRX Sedan and I don't have any rubbing. ;)

Imprezer: I thought you were running 8.5in Advans...What kind of rims do you have now? You still haven't replied to my PMs from about 6 weeks ago. :(

What kind of suspension setup are you running? Is it stock or modified in some manner? Have you rolled your fenders or made any other sort of changes to your car? From everything that I have read, it seems as though the widest tire that would fit on a stock suspension setup on a WRX sedan without rubbing or causing undue stress on the wheel bearings with a whacky offset is a 225/45-17 series tire...just looking for some clarification.

18x8.5 235's no rubbing and lowered quite a bit
