I am going to a smaller amount of bass and a larger amount of trunk space. I purchased 1 eclipse SW8102DVC. Its the 10 " with aluminum cone. If its DCR is 4.0ohm/coil would that mean because its a Dual voice coil model its 2 ohm? Its has an RMS of 500 watts and a max of 1000. YES FOR A 10" sub!! anyways, should i get something like a
-JL Audio 500/1 mono amplifier
-Rockford Fosgate 500/1
-KICKER????

any help is appreciated.

It should be dual 4 ohm, which means you can run the voice coils in parrallel to make it 2 ohms or in series to make it 8 ohms.
I would go with a mono amp. The ones you listed are all good, some other choices are:
Alpine
Kenwood
Audiobahn
Just depends on how much you want to spend

I agree - get a mono for your sub. Those numbers that you listed, are they max power? It seems that most amps show off their max rating because its higher but its the RMS that's more important.

For a mono amp the Fosgate is probally going to be your best bet .. JL's amps suck, but they have good subs .. I havent ever had a Kicker Amp so I can't help you on that one. If you want a really good amp in my opinion would be a MA Audio digital amp. I just started using the 4400W and its awsome .. it claims to put out 2300W RMS and it actually does, closer to 2400W, thats unheard of

The better companies will rate their amps in RMS but when it comes to companies like Sony, Jensen most are rated peak. I have used many different amps and some that I would reccomend would be:
Orion/DEI
JL
JBL (great budget amps)
Alpine
Zapco ($$$$$$$$)
Some I would stear clear of:
Sony
Pioneer (I hear their new stuff is ok but have no experience)
Jensen
Bose

there are tons of great amps out there.

For raw base use RF mono amps rip. I am a big fan of JL. Have run 2 and am about to run another one myself....a 500/1.

go to www.elitecaraudio.com

ask the guys in the forums there. They have great advice for all dollar ranges...especially high end. Lots of these guys are competitors.

Watch out for those companies ie... MA Audio, Audiobahn, Power Acoustik .. who claim to rate their amps in RMS when they are actually peak .. usually in the manuels there are correct ratings though.
