To commemorate the Petter Solberg's 2003 WRC driver's title, Subaru introduced special edition Imprezas, "WRX 2003 V-Limited" and "WRX STi 2003 V-Limited" in Japan. STi v-limited is a limited edition model WRX STi and 555 of them will be produced. Special features includes special suspention, suretrac front/clutch type rear LSDs, front under spoiler, roof vent, aluminum shift
knob, special decals and emblems. The suspention is tuned by PWRC driver Toshihiro Arai and it is 4 way adjustable dambers with 15mm lowering springs. WRX v-limited is available till the end of March in Japan. It comes with body pieces from WRX STi (except the hood scoop), front under spoiler, and 17 inch gold RAYS wheels. Interior is same as STi with blue seats and door panels, except the STi logo on the seat is removed. V-limited appeared in GC8 WRX STi ver2, ver3 and ver4 in the past when
Colin McRae was winning in WRC with Subaru. We'll hope to see more v-limited in the future.

Nick Koan 01-05-2004, 04:57 PM Yeah, too bad it isn't coming to America, but oh well, we'll just have to be contented with our 2.5L STi. :D
dropkick_muppet 01-05-2004, 05:11 PM damn, that thing looks nice! i wonder how long it'll take for someone to smuggle one over here? :)

I think Imprezzer outbid me on one of those on ebay once. The only time I've ever seen it for sale. Someone needs to sell these.
DanyoCantDrift 01-06-2004, 10:23 AM i want one!!! man why does japan get all the good stuff and we dont over here...i wish they would release some over here =)...those are bery teh sexy OMG!!! :D
wrxlover 01-06-2004, 02:15 PM Hopefully some venders here will import some of that stuff to here like that lip or those fog covers....omg that car is amazing!!
My friend can order these roof vents, he will back from UK after 17th this month. PM me if you're interested.
osidescooby 01-06-2004, 08:46 PM why are you teasing us with such a beauty?
Man.... I'm moving to Japan.
Salty 01-06-2004, 09:13 PM you know what though....
People in Japan love Autometer gauges and other "american stuff"....i wonder if they long for a USDM STi because it's LHD? who knows? The grass is always greener if you know what i mean... It would be nice to get the Subaru's, Nissans they have now but there just isn't a huge demand because of our fu*king soccer moms and ***** caravan families
Sure 555 V limited's would sell in about a week but we'll see our day soon. we FINALLY got the STi so im willing to bet we'll get these in this decade.

midnightwrx 01-07-2004, 09:58 AM I'll take that front lip.
silver_rex_4eat 01-07-2004, 05:05 PM minivans, SUV,etc there is a high demand for those exclusive high end import cars. IF they dont over produce them and keep the Numbers low enough they all will sell. I agree finally we got the wrx and then came the STi. Even with mitsubishi releasing the evo here helps. Hopefully others will follow and as time progresses we will see these fat limited production wrxs and STIs.
Time will tell but if the japanese automakers dont they are missing out on a large market.
Keep our fingers crossed

I absolutely agree...im almost willing to bet there's more of a demand in the USDM than there is in the JDM at this point. I wonder if SOA reads these posts/forums and keeps us on a leash until we just can't stand it anymore and finally imports them here. Good marketing strategy if they are but i think that time has come already.
I believe that if the USDM STi and EVO sell well in the next year or two then they'll reward us with these limited v's and other model(s) and see how they sell.

EJ20T 01-08-2004, 06:22 PM the new V-limited STi is a 2.0 boxer DOHC 16valve AVCS twin scroll turbo................:monkey:

mr. m 01-13-2004, 05:22 PM thanks for that link. i wasnt completely sure what the benefits were but now im slightly more informed.
MonkeyAB 01-24-2004, 11:12 PM I want one sooo bad. The STi and Evo aren't exactly moving very quickly over here AFAIK. I wonder what the numbers are like in Japan as far as sales go. The STi is pretty much a special edition in it's own rite in the states.
SlickmisterN 02-22-2004, 11:54 PM I want the V-Limited front lip so bad but I cant justify spending $400 on it.
hockeygod 03-08-2004, 03:49 PM Is there a site to check out the lip or what?
hiwrx 03-15-2004, 08:07 AM That car is tight! I like the rims. Better than the usdm bbs
kimbo63 03-15-2004, 02:38 PM i love those rims too, i wanna get em on my rex
hashiriya 03-15-2004, 05:52 PM There's no reason why they can't do a bunch of special editions like that here. It's just a few extra bits here and there, some semi-aftermarket stuff they toss on, and then add some letters to the name. If you ever notice, everything in Japan has special editions, look at all the ltd ed. Game Boys sometime, there are hundreds. For some reason, the special-edition fever thing just never caught on here, or at least none of the companies think it'd work. I, however, am a complete sucker for such things, hence my white japanese PS2;)
generalwrx 04-01-2004, 08:38 PM japan should start sharing their wealth
spoonchucks 04-14-2004, 07:35 AM I think this is probably related to the differences in emission laws between our two countries.
Last week, I remember reading an explanation about why the USDM WRX has such low low-end torque (below 2800). The general message was that Subaru had to rethink the engine to move the STi stateside.
With that in mind, they're probably thinking that it's either too costly to convert the cars for US drivers, or that if they modify it, it won't be a special edition anymore.
ScoobySTi07 04-15-2004, 12:59 AM US emission laws and crash test standards.
I don't give a sh*t. if the japanese can have them why can't i. i don't care if i'm killing the environment or will die if i get in a crash damn it. i just want to be driving a car thats worth it all because the same thing could happen to me in the dull POS they ship state side.
and now a banana:banana:
