Will 225/50R16 fit on a 2000 2.5 Coupe with Stock Wheels and suspension?

Ok, I see a bunch of somewhat conflicting/confusing posts on this and just want to find out if it will work. The calculations seem fine, as the 225/50s are actually .5mm shorter than the stock 205/55s, but is 225 too wide? Anyone know for sure if they will rub or not? Again, this is a 2000 2.5 RS Coupe with stock wheels and suspension.
Thanks,

I'm afraid they won't fit without without rolling. Even a 215 width on the 2.5s usually require some modification. It's the width that will kill you - the shorter diameter helps, but either way it will rub as suspension is compressed.
It will most likely depaend on the tire manufacturer and model. I had purchased a set of Yokohama AVS Db's in 225/50 for stock wheels and suspension. Under normal driving they were fine, but with weight in the back they would rub the suspension slightly during hard bumps and corners. When I ordered the next set (Kumhos) I went back to the stock size.
